4 weeks post-op and expected to be all better

I'm now DvH/BSO 4 weeks post op and people around me are expecting me to be "all better". I dropped out of some activities/lost interest because of lack of energy; people don't seem to understand why I'm still tired.

Re: 8 weeks post-op: when does it really start improving??!!!

I know what you mean. My sister was giving me crap b/c I'm not going out that much etc... I'm like .. I still can't get into my jeans, I still look pregnant, I'm tired, etc.. Some people just don't freaking get it. "You need to go out and meet someone...it's not normal".. Oh yea.. I want to meet a man now...when I don't feel like I look good nor feel good. So frustrating!

Fellow hyster sisters,

Try not to pay attention to those who don't understand why you're not bouncing right back! They can't understand..Ony those of us who have gone trhough it know what a long road it can be...Again, it's different for everyone...I'm 17 weeks in and still no where near back to normal, but I take comfort in knowing I have this website and that my fellow hysterites understand...It has saved me from thinking there was something wrong with me! Hopefully, we will all be able to say someday that it was all worth it!!!

Re: 4 weeks post-op and expected to be all better

This surgery takes a lot out of us physically and emotional. Each person recovers at a different pace. You are doing fine and you will get your energy back day by day litte by little. It could take up to a year for us to get yo 100%. So I think you're doing pretty good. Don't worry about with others say. They are Not you. You will get to where you need ti be, when you need to be there

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you

Re: 4 weeks post-op and expected to be all better

Good grief! I had a nearly perfect recovery- one mildly infected incision that responded quickly to antibiotics- and at 4 weeks fatigue was my most prominant symptom- 15 minutes of activity called for half an hour of being horizontal, a trip to the market required a nap beforehand and then another after the perishables were put away- the dry goods stayed in the car until I could bear the idea of walking "all the way" to the driveway (or sucker somebody else into fetching them).

Tell the nags that when they have major surgery, you'll accept their healing at their own pace and that you, yourself, are still healing and they can take their preconceptions and go sit on a tack and wait for you to finish this process as your body and your doc see fit.

DeliaDeLyon,

Thank you for a great comeback and for a much needed laugh!!! The next time I get one of those "comments" that are rude and insensitive, I'll smile inwardly, thinking of your suggestion!
Many thanks!!!!
