So messed up

I feel like such a complete idiot. I am 5 days post-op LAVH/BSO and go from feeling great to feeling like my insides are coming out. My emotions are ridiculous, and I fear they haven't begun to fight yet. My friends and family have been wonderful. The delivery man came twice with flowers and edible arrangements from my co-workers. I miss the kids so much and can't wait to get back. When I feel good, I'm ready for them......but then, like today, I am in pain, and even taking a shower takes all the starch out of me.

I feel so fickle about my life right now. Everybody keeps telling me that after enduring all the pain prior to the surgery, that afterwards I would feel "like a new woman".....yeah, I do....a woman I wish I had never met. I'm so frustrated right now. Will I ever by the same?

Re: So messed up

Have you started HRT? Are you able to take it? After my BSO it was not fun, but I felt better again on HRT. I'm assuming what you're feeling is hormonal. Have a talk with your Dr to see if she agrees and could start you on something or maybe have a better suggestion. Hope you feel like yourself again soon.

Re: So messed up

It sounds like you need HRT if you are allowed and if you are already on it maybe it needs some adjustments.

Re: So messed up

Dear CindySusie56,

Your are not even a week out from surgery!! You seem to be really hard on yourself. Try to take it easy and relax. A body cannot heal efficiently while under such tension and strain. Let the healing process go forward while you relax and rest, rest and rest some more. Remember you are a princess and you need to be pampered!! Enjoy this down time and just heal.
Wishing you success with your recovery.

Re: So messed up

Hoping that you start feeling better soon. I, like you, am impatient. I'm 15 days post op and still feel the way you do some days... Hang I'm there!! We,re all going thru this together !!

Re: So messed up

You are being way too hard on yourself. You went thru major surgery and the hormones in your body are really messed up. I agree with the other sisters, look into hrt. I am not sure of your age but I am 46 and I went back to work at 4 weeks and was still exhausted. It gets better---this weekend I shopped so much my husband cried mercy---before it was always me doing that. Starting with day 6 after surgery my hormones went nuts and so did I. Started on HRT therapy and while we are still tweaking what I am taking, I am so much better than I was before. You will get better, have faith, patience, and feel the love amongst your sisters here. Wishing you the best!!!

Re: So messed up

I felt the exact same way as you!!!! You put my words out there perfect for me!! I called my dr today and told them what was going on. They had me go ahead and change my patch and add a second patch to up the estrogen. I am still tired and run down feeling but the emotional part is much better! Sending you hugs!!
