8 weeks post hysterectomy and still having pain

Hi Ladies,
Today have been a rough day for me because I thought after having this surgery in January my pain would go away. Unfortunately, the last couple of days my pain has increased and I feel frustrated. Now I wish I didn't have the surgery because i'm still in pain and it's constant now.

Re: 8 weeks and still having pain

Have you been doing alot ? I drove to town and did errands and am worn out. If I don't lay down I will have pain. Your body lets you know what it can handle and rest is still a big part of my day, if I want to feel worth a hoot had a busy wkd and Monday was worn out. Then I start to hurt. I'm 8 wks out. Can you call your Dr?

Re: 8 weeks and still having pain

Hi Georgiarose,
I have started to workout 3 days a week but nothing strenous. I'm trying my best to deal with the pain and realizing this maybe my new normal. Yes, I can call my doctor but my goal is to only see her once a year. I'm going to try acupuncture tomorrow and hope things start to settle down. Hope you continue to feel better.
Thanks

Re: 8 weeks and still having pain

I guess your body is telling you to slow down. Maybe start out working out 1 day a week & then ease into 3. Hope you get better.

Re: 8 weeks post hysterectomy and still having pain

hi kenndie18= we had our surguries the same time and i am also really frustrated with how much pain and problems i'm still having. it's really hard, especially when doctors and people think that at 6 weeks we should be or ARE completely healed.
i'm sorry you're going thru this and hope that it starts getting better. i'm worried that my pelvic pain will never go away and this swelling is a more serious problem. who knows. ....
not to mention the hormonal part, which has been awful for me.
i'm with you in wondering if i did the right thing by having surgery, but now it's too late :-(
take care and hang in there!

Re: 8 weeks post hysterectomy and still having pain

Hi snowleopard1,
Yes, i'm so tired of hearing I should feel better now. This hotflashes is killing me and I didn't think I would have this issue since I still have my ovaries. I hope the both of us will start to feel better soon.

Re: 8 weeks post hysterectomy and still having pain

I'm still having some pain after a busy day and I'll be 8 weeks on Thursday. At my 6 week check up my doctor said it would be 12 weeks before I feel great. She also said no sex for 3-4 more weeks and to just listen to my body. There are no set rules.

I bought a fitbit and yesterday did just under 10,000 steps. I was DONE by 9:30 and in bed and asleep and slept for 12 hours. My husband woke me up today at 9 am to see if I was ok. I've been exhausted all day today, presumably recovering from too much yesterday. I'm frustrated too, i want to start working out but i have to remember the 12 week mark not the 6.

It seems the 6 week mark is when you're in the clear from tearing and infection. The next 6 is continued healing.

I hope this helps for you guys. The bright side is we're ready to do more, which is a sure sign of getting better.

Hang in there! This is the longest in 30 years that I haven't had a period and regardless of the daily discomfort and pain after over exerting, it's been pretty awesome to not have my period!

Oh also, about the hot flashes, my Dr keeps asking me if im having them. Im not and i still have my ovaries but she said your hormones and be completely out of whack after surgery and it could take time for them to "settle" back to normal.

Re: 8 weeks post hysterectomy and still having pain

Hello ladies ^_^ i am almost a year from my hysterectomy, at 6-8 weeks and maybe even up to 6months you will still feel pain, and have swelling, they say it can take up to a year, yes i said it A YEAR, to fully heal inside, you may "feel and look good/great" on the outside, but on the inside your still healing I am sorry to bring on the downside but please take care and don't rush things, if you hurt after doing something, stop and think about what it was, and then decide if it is worth the discomfort again, I am only trying to help as I have been there, thinking "ok, come on i want to this or that", but I listened to my body
