Advice for scheduled ablation suspected adeno

I have been struggling for about 3 years with horrible periods. Clots, unbareable cramps, and heavy flow. I started having serious pain in between peiods in April and finally went to the Drs. She ordered an U/S and found a "mass". After doing a biopsy, which came back ok, she said she suspected adenomyosis which was causing all my issues. I have 3 kids, last of which was a c section with a tubal. This is probably what caused the adeno IMO, because before that I had NO period issues, zero, zip, nada. I was told the only way to totally be free was a hysterectomy, but I could try an ablation. Since I teach preschool and it's Sept, I really can't take off 6 weeks so I am opting for the ablation which is scheduled for Friday. My main question is in doing some research I have found a lot of people saying the ablation did nothing for their pain and cramping, and in some cases made it worse. I can't imagine worse...... I am hoping some of your ladies out there were in my same boat and it helped you! Please let me know

An ablation will not cure adenomyosis. Keep doing research and read up on it some more.

Re: Advice for scheduled ablation suspected adeno

I know it won't "cure" it, I am hoping to get a year or so of relief...... At least until summer when I can take time off for a hysterectomy. I was hoping to hear of some success of at least from the cramping. My Dr said if I am one of the people that their periods stops I should get some relief from the cramps. I have been reading and finding some people saying their cramps actually got worse...... I can't imagine! My insurance company won't pay for a hysetrectomy without trying this first, so I am kinda stuck anyway. Hoping to make it to summer

Re: Advice for scheduled ablation suspected adeno

I did ablation 2 years ago and while it did not stop the pain or bleeding, it did lessen it for awhile. I just had a hyst last week and they also found adenomyosis (along with the endo I knew about already). I have young kids too...if you can do the laprascopic supracervical hysterectomy, the recovery is/can be much easier than a total.
