Fluid

I had a two week post op check up on Friday. Around my incision was very swollen. Not hurtful, red or leaking, but hard to the touch and distented around the incision. My doctor said it was fluid trapped between the incision on the inside and the one on the outside. He said to use the heating pad and didn't seem too concerned about it. I have used the heating pad all weekend, have NOT run a fever, but have been having bad pain in my left hip, just below the hip bone. It is a strange pain. It almost feels like someone punched me in the hip. It hurts to run my fingers over it. The fluid has also not gone anywhere. It looks the same as it did on Friday.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Could the hip pain and fluid be connected? My doctor didn't seem to think it was a big deal, but the hip pain has gotten really bothersome and I hate to call him on Monday when he just saw me Friday and didn't think there was a problem. Maybe I am expecting too much for being only two weeks along....?

Fluid

Dear Cottonro,

I still have that type of swelling to the left side of my incision-I have a vertical incison and I am 7 weeks post op. I do not have reddness, etc. When I have been up alot, it gets worse and honestly, looks worse when I am standing up.

As far as the hip pain goes, I have had pain in both knees, my lower back and hip as well @ one time or another throughout this whole recovery.

I think alot of it has to do with overcompensating to avoid using the very sore abdominal muscles right now.
It will get better

Best wishes in your recovery
