Normal Bowel Movements after Hysterectomy

Someone told me last night that my bowel movements will never be normal again.

Is that true?

No! They just won't be the same at first. For me, everything is back to normal again.

Thank God.

everything is back to normal for me. surgery and pain meds can mess you up for a bit but everything should return to normal

right after surgery for a few weeks things will be a lil slow but after that they will be normal again. fiber is a great way to keep things moving along good.

I never had any problems. Took me until the day after I returned home to go but since then it's been as regular as clockwork. Maybe even more so than before surgery. I don't know why I had it so easily. I never even had gas pains. No clue why...

Maybe you'll be lucky, too.

It could be true that they will never be your "normal" again...'cause they might get better for you. I know that mine have. It seems like everything was prolapsed and BMs were so painful before surgery that I'd cry and not be able to go for days. Now I'm 1 year post op and don't have too much trouble. I eat 2 servings of oatmeal in the morning, plenty of veggies and fruits, drink water and go 1 to 2 times per day without pain. (TMI?)

I myself had a problem at 4 weeks PO with constipation I was told to try a vegtable laxative and Benifiber its tasteless you use it 3x a day in anything and its helped alot I agree with Speckla fruits and veggies water and moving helps me too! Its "funny" how people say stuff after a you've had a hyst isnt it???

For the first time in my life, my bm's are normal. My surgeon turned me onto fibercon tabs and since taking 2 per day, all is finally well. I can't say enough good about those 2 little pills. Costco sells their brand for less $.
