as long as you are happy with the results of your surgery and that he did a good job, i'd wait til after the 6 week check up. if you dont speak up at the 6 week appt about your disappointment in your treatment, everything that you feel about the way you were treated wont make a difference. speak up and defend yourself...you are paying him for a service.

Can I Fire My GYN?
SoI am eating lunch and Dr. X's office calls me....
This is what I heard "Mrs. X Dr. X told me to call and tell you that Pathology came back and all was normal, have a good evening."
That was is. Call ended.
It seemed way improsonal and I wanted to say why didn'y Dr. X, call himself. And if he say endo on the right ovary he removed then would pathology have reflect that?
Am I being over sensitive?

you sound very sensitive about your entire experience. maybe switching dr's would be best for you. just remember that most dr's and their offices are not perfect. this isnt meant to pick on you at all...it just sounds like no matter what they do, you arent happy with them. for example..if that bothered you today, why didnt you call them back immediately and ask them about the endo or ask them to have the dr call you back about the results? maybe its time to find a new dr, have your records switched..and start new. hopefully you will get the care you want. good luck

Can I Fire My GYN?
My doctor always mails the results of my tests. I think I'd be scared if the doctor called me with the results thinking that there must be something wrong. Perhaps some doctors personally call their patients, but I think most of the time the results are handled by the nurse.

Can I Fire My GYN?
For the past 8 years Dr. x had been the best GYN I had ever had. I must have referred 25 or so ladies to his office. So I have not always been displeased, just seems as though I am not even important, I mean if for 8 years you were treated one way then your Dr (GYN at that) treats you totally different, opposite of the pasy 8 years, your telling me that you wouldn't be a bit put-off by having my experience yourself? As for why I didn't call right back, why am I going to make anymore thension between the office and I when I havn't even had a post op check, have a LONG way to go, and wouldn't want to be clear for all, so they don't have to assist me? I agree with the wonderful suggestion above:

I think you have every right to be upset. With the roller coaster so many of us are on in the few weeks after surgery, you feel even worse.
Now, hear me out:
1. You were already tense about the stalker and your daughter, etc;
2. You had the "normal" pre-op stress on top of that
3. You were put in the wrong ward through a horrid mistake, where no one knew about proper post-hyst care, and you screamed for an hour to get the proper painkiller back. (It sounds like you had at least one nurse who tried to comfort you).
4. Your gyn seems to be brushing everything off.
5. You might be having post-hyst mood swings, which doesn't help.
At the 6-week post check, make sure you have a long enough appointment to tell him everything. He might have been getting virtual non-reports since he was on a different floor. He may not have KNOWN what went on, nor might his office.
Write this stuff down if you need to, when you go in. If you are brushed off ('no time'), leave the written part for him to read later.

Can I Fire My GYN?
Wow, thank GOD I love my GYNO, I found her getting my second opinion from my not so liked GYNO. I didnt like the one I was going to over the past few years, and just stopped GOING to him, I was fed up with my reg doctor and my GYNO, I dont think I would have found her otherwise.. good luck!! YOU ARE THE PATIENT!!!! that is the book I read before my surgery other wise I would have been stuck with my old GYNO, it was kinda hard telling my NEW GYNO I prefer HER over my other one, but she was more than happy to take me as a new patient.. again GOOD LUCK!! wish you well.. read that book, its great..

Can I Fire My GYN?
It's Federal Law, I've been told by my ins that you can not be pre-existed if you have had continuous coverage for 1 year prior to visit in question. Are you by chance from a redneck, hick town? Hope things get better for you.

Can I Fire My GYN?
Dear Perceptionist
I don't know much about healthcare over in America but I think your first posting said it all. I think you should print it out and give a copy to your Gyn as it states exactly how you feel and what problems you had in the first place. Sometimes it is difficult to go over it again as you 'burn yourself out' getting it off your chest in the first place and forget everything you wanted to say. Certainly, you feel badly treated for the reasons you stated and they need to know that. You put it across well.
I'm sorry you have had such a bad experience. You now need to take care of yourself and get well and not carry this stress with you.
Love and hugs Pagan

Can I Fire My GYN?
Pagen,
Love the username..
Thanks for your thoughts on this.. I am still mulling it over...
They did call me today to tell me that I have a kidney infection and a UTI? SO I was pleased to have them call. They sounded mad on the message machine, my husband says they sounded urgent. I called and got the news, urgent was right.
