ovarian cyst rupture?

Is it possible to have an ovarian cyst rupture if you end up suddenly being quite physical? I ended up having to help wrestle a drunk last night at work. After that, I ended up sitting with my forehead on my desk because my lower left abdomen hurt so badly. I kept getting sharp pains for about the next hour or so until I left work. I got about a block from work and had a very severe sharp pain, then another pain in my back.

I'm waiting for a call from doctor, but if she doesn't call before it's time for me to leave, I'm planning on going in since I don't have a fever and it's just a steady pain that I'm pretty sure I can deal with. I can get a light duty post where I don't deal with inmates. On the bright side, I'll be about 15 minutes from the hospital where I'm having my surgery

A ruptured cyst wouldn't be life-threatening, right?

Thanks,
Cat

I have a large ovarian cyst and my dr told me to do nothing physical such as lifting , etc. He was concerned about it rupturing. You should call.

Yes!!!!

I had one rupture and it was much like what you described. I was in severe pain (I didn't know at the time that I had endo) and I ended up in the ER. I was put in the hospital for 3 days because I was weak from the constant blood loss (it's the blood going into areas it shouldn't that causes that severe pain) and the pain had to be controlled.

I had another one rupture that wasn't quite as bad, but I still needed the ultrasound and some pain medication for a couple of days.

Please be sure to contact your doctor.

ovarian cyst rupture?

I have had rupturing cysts on and in my ovaries for years and yes the pain has been bad enough to drop me to the ground literally. Do you have any bleeding occuring? If you have never had this happen it would be a good idea to check things with your dr or at least make him/her aware of what happened and how you are feeling now. The ones my gyn is very watchful of is when they are inside my ovary.

Let us know how things are going.

Donna

PS...I was out all day, will PM you after while.

ovarian cyst rupture?

Well, here I am at work. Nurse Practitioner told me she was sure I was just ovulating. Right. That was right after she told me that adenomyosis doesn't hurt. Anyway, she did say that if I started running a fever to call. I figure I'm at work, 15 minutes from the hospital, instead of at home 1 hour from hospital Working light duty, no physical risk...and if I have to go to hospital I'll go in style...with an armed escort in a cruiser

Thanks all,
Cat
