2 weeks post op pain..

Hello ladies.. I'm Amy and I'm new.. I Had a hysterectomy on June 25th. It started out lap but sadly ended in a full abdominal with one ovary saved. I've been an emotional wreck lately! Also if I'm sitting or on my feet to long I get really bad pelvic/vaginal and lower back pain..
I was just curious if this is normal?

Thanks!!

Re: 2 weeks post op pain..

The first few weeks can be really difficult, both physically and emotionally. What you are feeling sounds normal. The emotions post op are overwhelming for lots of us. I never cried so much in my life. I cried for hours straight. Even though you still have one ovary, it my be "asleep" or in shock due to surgery. The main blood supply for the ovaries is from the uterine artery, which is severed during surgery. It can take a few weeks for the blood supply to re-establish via another route. During this time some women can feel emotional or experience menopause symptoms such as hot flashes. I felt my ovaries kick in at about 5-6 weeks and my hormones stabilized, along with my emotions.

Sitting or standing too long will put pressure on your pelvic floor and delicate healing tissues. Sometimes gravity isn't our friend. When you get sore, it's your body telling you to take a break. You have had major surgery and need to rest. You are still early in your recovery.

Here is a link to your recovery thread. Here you will find other women who have had surgery the same week as you and have the opportunity to share experiences and ask questions. June 24-30 Recovery Thread

Hang in there honey, I promise it gets better!
