Have a question I haven't really seen answered...

And I'm sorry if I have overlooked it. This is kind of a weird question anyway...

My doc is going to attempt a LAVH/BSO. I was wondering... Does your vagina itself hurt very much after a vaginal procedure? *blush*

For some reason, the fact that part of the procedure will be done vaginally is freaking me out somewhat. It's like I'll be turned inside out, and to be honest, it's making the thought of sex afterward kind of weird to me.

Thanks for taking the time w/ such a silly question.

Have a question I haven't really seen answered...

Hey Lisha,
It's not a silly question. I had a tvh, and didn't have any vaginal pain really...maybe a bruised feeling....the episiotomy burned alittle, but nothing major. At some points i do get a weird sensation like there is a tampon inserted wrong, but i think it's swelling when I do too much.
Hope that answers your question.
Good luck

Have a question I haven't really seen answered...

Lisha,

I'm almost 9 weeks post op. I had a LAVH on March 23rd. I had a bunch of repair work done also. My vagina did not really hurt. There was some pressure, but that probably was from swelling. The only problems I had was sitting in an upright position. It put to much pressure on my bottom. I used a donut ring and it took care of that problem.

As for sex afterwards, I was almost 8 weeks post op before we attempted it. The first time was a little awkward. I was afraid of it hurting. It didn't very much. I think it was more me tensing up, then anything else. After that first time, I didn't have any other probems.

Hope this helped.

Thank you both very much. It's so great to get answers to questions like these.

The funny thing is that I am a medical transcriptionist and so I transcribe at least 1 hysterectomy report a day it seems. Yet, I never get to see the 'personal' side of it all even though I know the technical side by heart... But the most personal thing commented about the patient in the actual op report is "The patient tolerated the procedure well" which basically means that they didn't die.

I am making a list of questions to ask my doctor too during my preop appointment.

Thanks again! And if anyone else would like to share any advice/experience/answers, please feel free... I'm sucking up info like an algae eater! lol
