Sleeping on your side

I use my small pillow to tuck under my side and prop up my belly. It still makes me nutz that I'm using a pillow this far along. But I'll get there soon.

Sleeping on your side

I am a side sleeper and couldn't sleep on anything but my back for the last few weeks. I did just happen to wake up on my side earlier this week.
It will happen. If you make yourself go to sleep when it sltill hurts your body will self adjust when you are asleep.
I wouldn't push it until it doesn't hurt anymore.
Back sleeping for me was only tolerable with LOTS of pillows bolstering my legs(under my knees).
Good luck,

Robyn

Sleeping on your side

I surround myself with pillows, and am sleeping on my side. It took a few weeks, but I felt much safer on my side, than on my back. One night in the first week, my cat came to visit, and she landed on my stomach, needless to say, it was horrible. Hence my safety on the side. When I roll onto my back, I now instinctively have a hand protecting my stomach and incision area, just incase.... I swear I come out of a dead sleep when I hear those little feet coming down the hallway, and assume the anti-kitty position!

Sleeping on your side

I'l l never forget the night that I managed to sleep on my left side.I still have to do this weird shuffling motion using my shoulders and hips until I have enough room to lean my whole body to the left.My insides feel really weird for a few seconds then everything settles and I'm good to go for a few good hours of blissful sleep!!!
My right side for some odd reason is more of a challenge,so I'm sticking to the left for the time being.
I've never been a belly sleeper.
It sure will be nice when the day finally comes to roll over without having to do so much planning ahead of time!!! Actually my husband finds the whole process to be quite entertaining in the wee hours of the morning!!!
Happy healing girls

Sleeping on your side

I have the fix!! ;o)
Try to find a body pillow called a snoodle (?). It's shaped like a candy cane and it has been a lifesaver for me. It cradles your head and neck and still plenty long to go all the way past my knees( I'm 5'9). I *LOVE* this thing- had it for one of my pregnancies and have slept with it ever since. I even brought it to the castle with me! You can move it however you want it, and it's also great to use on the couch sitting up. You can center it on your back and it winds aroundthe support your sides- a perfect armrest.
They should hire me as their spokesperson ;o)

Sleeping on your side

I am also a side sleeper. What I did was hug a pillow tightly to my stomach and slowly in sections move my body in a slow roll to my side.
Without the pillow it feels like your stomach is free falling without something to support it.

Sleeping on your side

I was able to sleep on my side the day I came home from the hospital. I had the pillow they gave me in the hospital and used that to turn from side to side. It was blissful sleeping in my own bed instead of the hospital bed. The turning was not exactly pleasant but once I turned I would go right to sleep..Now I turn over and do not even know it.
