Re: Help Scared

Mine was a vaginal hysterectomy as well as the repairs and I'm hoping it will enhance my sex life, not make it worse. Nothing much worse than feeling everything in the wrong place, spending half the night going to the loo etc etc. You've done it now, so just do all you can to make things good. Exercise, rest, and lots of pelvic floor exercises. Now I don't have the prolapse I feel I'm really able to strengthen those, and strong pelvic floor muscles can make a huge difference. I feel so much better about myself not having everything falling out and I figure that has to be a positive thing.

Re: Help Scared

You guys have been awesome. I truly appreciate it. I am really surprised by my reaction. The truth is I need to stay off of google and stop reading all the negative things people post. So true it is wonderful not having everything hanging out. I can't wait to run again without the Poise pad.

Re: Help Scared

Hi Omgwhathaveidon,

I didn't see you post asking me how old I am! I was 50 in January. So glad you're feeling positive. Yes, googling stuff can be very unhelpful. I got really scared after doing too much of that. I'm a little bit further on than you. I get an achy tummy still but I put that down to low muscle strength because of less exercise. Looking forward to getting back to more. I have an appt with my GP tomorrow and one with my surgeon on 22nd July (spent hours trying to get one with either and ended up with both so will stick with it). Looking forward to the go ahead to do lots more walking and getting fit over the summer!

Re: Help Scared

Did anyone else have hysterectomy recommended because they had a severe cystocele?

Re: Help Scared

So Jert you are a little further along than me. Have you had sex yet? If so how did it go. I have a few days and I am concerned it won't be the same.

Thanks for helping this sister today.

Re: Help Scared

No, I haven't, but I'm divorced with 3 children so it's not really on the cards just now. When I was married, the cystocele was a BIG problem. It wasn't the cause of my marriage break up but sex was not great with it because it made me feel I needed to empty my bladder half the night EVERY time and it was always really uncomfortable. If sex means a day at work and looking after 3 children with no sleep it's not worth it in my book! If a man comes my way some time in the future I will be scared but feel so much better about myself now, that can only be good I think? I have a colleague I asked about this and she was positive. She has a very strong marriage and though she says sex is different, for her it's been fulfilling and she has no regrets.

Re: Help Scared

hey, you've got your ovaries!! I had a radical H (5 days ago) and cancer. I know women who had total H's done and they claim their sex lives are better than ever - endless sex (as they don't bleed anymore), no odor, very very clean. they get wet, squirt, the whole works.

Re: Help Scared

Wow I am so sorry to hear about your cancer. I pray all goes well with you. I am obsessing about this sex thing. I really did not have much problem with my periods. I had a pretty bad cystocele and was wet a lot. I was told my uterus was contributing and I believed. Lots of regret. I would take the wet over bad sex. Just wish I had gotten a second opinion.
