Almost time and scared! Hysterectomy 3/14!

Surgery is coming up so fast. I was scared at first then got comfortable and now scared to death again! I'm having my uterus and fallopian tubes removed. I'm worried about going under and about the unknown of post op!

I know the feeling I go tomorrow and my nerves have the best if me. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Stay positive and do things that make you smile.

Almost time and scared! Hysterectomy 3/14!

I was scared about going under too, especially because this was my first time, but I was quickly reassured that everything would be okay. Remember that your anaesthesiologist is a trained professional, whose main priority is to make sure that you get through this okay, and he will be monitoring you closely every step of the way. Also remember that we will be with you every step of the way, through your surgery, and well into post-op. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery!

Re: Almost time and scared! Hysterectomy 3/14!

Hi I was very afraid the weeks leading up my surgery too.

Like you I had never undergone general anesthesia before so I was really afraid of being under.

However, you will be in excellent care with your anesthesiologist and his assistant so don't worry. They will monitor you every step of the surgery. As it turned out I didn't remember a thing after going to the operating room. My next memory was of the nurses trying to get me to move from the recovery room bed to my hospital bed.

Good luck to you!

DEEP breaths....you are almost there!
Hopefully your experience will be like mine, and you can look back and remember that the waiting was the hardest part. Focus on any remaining tasks, maybe go get a massage to prepare your mind and body, go food shopping and get your house in order. Those kind of things helped keep me from worrying 24x7.

You can do this, and you have the support of this forum and all of us sisters I couldn't wait to log on and see how everyone was doing in my post op thread. What an amazing group of women

I tried not to think about it the last few days, so right before I went in to prep for surgery, I stopped in the hallway, grabbed my husband to hold me, and let it all out. I had to do that and it really made me feel better.

You really will be ok, and you are stronger than you know!

Thank you all! You have been so helpful. I've been deep cleaning for days! I have a 2 year old and 4 year old so when I get one room clean and move to the other, they destroy the one I just cleaned. Lol.
