Post Op Sexual Satisfaction

I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy with removal of uterus and cervix. The surgery is scheduled for 3/22/04 so lots of time to worry and read way too much. So far this web site has been the most real that I have seen.

I have seen allot about sexual dysfunction and lack of pleasure after surgery. Right now the pressure that I am experiencing so much pressure now that having the surgery is a must but trying to get all the information I can. Just wondering what other people have experienced after surgery. I had hoped that the surgery would make things better.

You may want to read some of the posts on the post-op message board. I can't speak from experience yet because I'm not even 3 weeks post-op yet. Everyone is different, but the few that have I have read have not had any big issues. The biggest issue are the first few times after doctor releases for sex. But conversation, relaxation, and patience seem to overcome the anxiety. Sex Is one of those topics that alot of women write who are having problems, but I try to focus on the positive and there are some of those also. Keeps my hopes up.

I was really worried about the sex issue myself. I had my LAVH 2+ years ago. I am happy to report that everything in that department is working just fine. Intercourse, orgasms...it is all wonderful. I hope this helps.

I am 7 weeks post op and I have only had sex now twice but it was wonderful you just have to start easier than before but great!
