Major Bruising

Hi All had my Laproscopic Hysterectomy on 04/07/10 only my uterus was removed which the Dr. said was the size of someone who is 5 months pregnant. Problem is I now have major bruising from the main incision all the way across my left hip bone, as well as near my pelvic bone. It is scary looking and need to know if anyone else has experienced this. THanks

Re: Major Bruising

Thanks, at least I know it's normal than. All my pain is onmy left side so I can only sleep either on my back or my right side. Going to see the Dr. on Tuesday so he can check the bruising. Good luck with your recovery.

Re: Major Bruising

I'm having a hard time getting to sleep because of my bruising. Im normally a side sleeper. I can't seem to get comfortable on either side due to the bruising. Pillows help some but not enough. Good luck with your recovery too.

Re: Major Bruising

I was just coming on to ask about this!

I had a TAH, went back in through my c-section incision, and took my uterus and cervix, plus bladder reconstruction. I am bruised like you would not believe from hip bone to hip bone. My DH is worried, but I just plan to call the doc tomorrow (a few other things to ask about) and mention it. I think it's normal. It's a traumatic surgery.

Re: Major Bruising

I had daVinci total hysterectomy on March 25th and still have quite the rainbow of bruises across my stomach. My doctor said that it was normal, although say she was sorry for them.

Re: Major Bruising

same here, had a TAH on March 15 and had major bruising from bellybutton to below the hips. Scary to look a very nice dark purple colour. Took about 2 weeks to fade away. Mine did not hurt and doctor said he'd never seen anythin like it before. I asked him if maybe he had stood on me or dropped me lol. He seemed to think that it may have been a reaction to the trauma, different painkillers and the needle that you get evryday for blot clotting...
just hang in there, it is not a pretty sight but it will fade..

Re: Major Bruising

Hi Ladies,
I had TAH on 4/9, and also had huge bruising from tops of my thighs to a couple of inches above my incision. I am so glad to hear I am not the only one.
What I am interested to know is, did any of you feel unwell as the bruising began to fade?
I've felt like I had the flu, and have had a mild raised temp.
I saw the doctor today - she can't see any sign of infection, so I am wondering if it could just be the purple fading to yellow?
I know bruising produces toxins as it breaks down.
Would love to know if anyone else felt like this?
