Anyone similar? 4 weeks post op TAH/BSO - bad pain lower abdomen

I'm getting in to doc tomorrow - but had TAH/BSO on 3/12 - not many issues w/ incision or bowels, etc -
but for last week i have really bad pain : mostly pulling sensation like lower groin/ovary area is attached & pulling to around incision area or higher ( i had low bikini cut). that plus sharp pains too - they're there all the time. worse if i move a weird way,but there all the time. so pulling pain, stabbing pain - ouch. only a very low grade fever. no bowel or bladder issues. Pain meds don't help the pain.
i've had this pain in a much less severe fashion since the surgery - but i just chalked it up to stitches, healing, etc - but now that it's getting worse i'm getting paranoid
i've read quite a few stories where docs said adhesions, just plain healing, possible hematoma and all sorts of stuff. what was your story?
THanks in advance- i'm really bummed out that i was feeling good - now feel horrible!

Hello,
I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. Some of what you describe sounds very similar to what I have been feeling but not to the extent you are having. Glad you are getting in to the doctors. Best of luck to you, keep us posted, you will be in our thoughts! Take care.

Surgery was on 3/22/10

Re: Anyone similar? 4 weeks post op TAH/BSO - bad pain lower abdomen

I thought I am the only one suffering from this. Had my TAH 3/15 and still having pain. Add to this is a bladder infection. Have pain when sitting down for 10 minutes or so and laying down at night. Thank God tomorrow will be my first follow up check and will surely ask lots of ???? I am scheduled to go back to work end of April -- not sure if I am ready. I am wondering if I can maximize my leave to 8 weeks.

thanks for support - you two please keep me posted on your progress as well! i'll update this too after doc appt tomorrow!
@ murbano: i also am wondering how i'm going to go back to work! i can't sit/ stand/lay for more than 30 min w/o pain. I don't have a very physical job, but i have a very stressful, high profile, international company job - and i'm worried about the pain as well as energy level!

Re: Anyone similar? 4 weeks post op TAH/BSO - bad pain lower abdomen

update; went to doc today - he sent me to CT scan w/ IV contrast - to make sure not hematoma, fluid, etc. ( He said sometimes, whether or not you do too much, there can be a tear in the fascia & can get hematoma/ bleeding or even fluid buildup) Did CT scan w/ icky IV contrast, plus a CBC and Urine. Had to wait for radiologist to chat w/ doc over ;phone about results - guess if "bad" they were going to admit me to hospital ( per Radiology tech). But they sent me home, with an appt. tomorrow a.m. w/ doc again for follow up. And vicodan & valium in meantime. the drugs are helping, but what's wrong w/ me? I mean, i'm glad it wasn't so serious/ on CT that they admitted me, but that makes me feel also like I'm crazy & it's all in my head! ( I know a lot of us feel like that or worry about that!) My pain is real & I want it to go away, but i want to know what it is! i'm"hoping" maybe it's something more "simple" like a pinched nerve or strained ligament w/ inflammation. anyone have similar issues - what was your diagnosis?

Had my follow up on 4/13. I told dr everything -- all the pain and discomfort I am having -- but all he said was each individual heals on a different level. He told me to wait until my 6th week visit -- he will do a pelvic exam and decide from there. At this point motrin 600 is my new bestfriend.

Re: Anyone similar? 4 weeks post op TAH/BSO - bad pain lower abdomen

Yes! At about 2.5 weeks I started having horrible pain and pressure in my lower abdomen that felt like my skin was pulling away from my muscles or my muscles were tearing along the pubic bone. Pain pills didn't help and I was incapacitated. It lasted about 5 days. I'm just now have had the symptoms start to go away for a few days.
I had a seroma in my belly button incision and the doctor checked me for the possibilities of others with exam inside and out and an ultrasound. She didn't find anything.
She said it was probably "just healing".
It is very frustrating and confusing.
