Long Car Trip after Vertical Incision

I am healing well after my recent surgery but the vertical incision is making it very difficult for me to sit. The other day I had a 1-mile each way car ride; that plus 15 minutes of sitting in the 1 1/2 hours I was there really did me in. Most of the time at home I am standing (and walking around) or reclining on the couch.

This coming weekend we have a family event that will involve 1 1/2 HOURS each way in the car, plus sitting for most of the day. Unless something changes drastically in the next few days, I just don't see how I can do it!

When standing or reclining I am in little, if any, pain. My body is just not happy in a sitting position right now. I'm figuring the best thing is to take it slow. I sit for 5 minutes here and there, and then get up and walk around (slowly).

Has anyone done a long car trip so soon after surgery? I won't be driving--not allowed to do that for 2+ more weeks until I see the doctor anyway. But I don't know how I'd manage this.

Well, I recently tried a nice, long car ride. I am regretting every minute of it now. Everyone is different though, and if your body seems to be telling you not to do it, I'd skip the trip.
