TAH 2.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Ice help with swelling??

Hi Ladies!

I had a TAH 2.5 weeks ago and have experienced swelling above the incision line. Today I am planning to try icing the area above my incision to see if it helps. Have any of you experience with ice helping reduce the swelling?

I use cool pack but mostly heating pad. You have a swelly belly which is normal after a hysterectomy. Mine is improving but I still have it. . I notice it better in the AM but then if im too active or if I over do it, its swelly at nite! I have my 6 week dr appt next week, Ill ask my dr about this bc its my goal to get rid of it. Im still wearing an ab binder.

I had the same surgery as you. A few days after surgery Ive lost 12 lbs. Im guessing from weight of uterus, fibroid with fluids? The belly improves each week. Week 4 is when youll feel like a small change, then week 5 better. Week 5 I can bend forward & to the side so I think the swelling improved. No real pains & my abs feel stronger. Im not pushing it. I take the time to rest. For some reason, today im fighting fatigue.
