if your ovaries dont come back to life

After a TAH.. I had it done almost 7 weeks ago and I do not think they are working. I think I am in full force menapause.. I am constantly having huge hot flashes where I am drenched in sweat. I have to take 2 to 3 baths a day.. My hair will not do anything. Im having mood swings but this can because of all my problems and I wear my emotions lately on my sleeve.. Dh and I are bickering and we normally never do that and I can honestly say its all my fault since I start it

I can not style it all but I think that could be from the surgery itself from being put under.. Doesnt matter how much hair products I used its just flat and I had curl prior to surgery... Is there a test to see if they are functioning and if they are not should I go on HRT.. oh and Im 43 and was premenapausal prior to surgery but just slightly..

Other then that I feel I am on the mend. My pain has subsided tremdously.. Where the drain tube was its finally healing. I still get some shooting pains there but I think that is part of healing oh and its itching another sign of healing. Im in th e middle of our trip, tonight we are on our way to Dallas /Ft worth to see the inlaws for 5 days I am just happy I am finally feeling good after 6 weeks of pure h#ll.. Thank you .

Sounds like you should just start treating your symptoms. Can you have soy? I know that has helped alot of gals on here.

i hope your symptoms ease up some soon. i've seen where its taken months for some womens ovaries to start working again. you might want to mention it to your dr to see if he would want you to start some hrt..maybe temporarily.

You can ask your dr to do an FSH test to see where your hormone levels are. I agree, you can always ask your dr for something to help you deal with the symptoms now and if your ovaries wake back up you can stop. It takes longer for some women. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

There are several blood tests that can be done for hormone levels (Total Hormone level panel, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone panel, Free Standing Hormone panel). Your doctor would do these, some have done saliva tests there is much discussion as to which is more accurate / better. Anyway yes, you can be tested and as noted if your ovaries are asleep they could give you some HRT until they start back up or you could explore some other items like vitamins that might support your system until it gets back up and functioning (some doctors are knowledgeable on this and some not so much).
