Adehsion pain 10 months post op

I had my hysterectomy (ovaries and uterus) on October 14, 2011. One of the primary reasons I finally decided to have the hysterectomy aside from the ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, heavy bledding was that I wanted to put an end to all the pain I had been experiencing for years. I sailed right through mysurgery with no real problems or issues then about a month and a half ago started to experience the same pains in my abdomen that I had prior to surgery which was right where my ovaries had been. I remember wondering how this pain was even possible since my ovaries were gone. I called my gynocologist and she said that it sounded like either an intestional issue or adhesions. A week later I was in so much pain that I was in her office seeing her husband who is also a gynocologist because she was not available. He said he thought I either had IBS or adhesions. I have since had a colonoscopy (normal), ultrasound, (normal) and a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis (normal) I saw a specialist to rule out IBS and he told me he thinks I have adhesions. For the past six weeks I have had abdominal pain and discomfort daily and am back to having to put a heating pad on my abdomen again. In general it feels like someone used my abdomen as a punching bag and I am sore and tender. SOmetimes the pain where my ovaries used to be can intensify. I am beyond FRUSTRATED and thought my days of abdominal pain were over. I have no idea what my optiona are if any. I know that I need to speak to my gyno again about this but wanted to if anyone had any suggestions.
Thanks

Abdominal adhesion's are SO painful! They can develop anywhere that tissue was damaged, either through surgery, or infection, or inflammation.

They can go in surgically, with a laparascope (through a "pokey-hole") and laser or chemically "lyse" the adhesions, but even then, that's not always a cure.

You might do some looking on WebMD for "inflammation" and "anti-inflammatory diets." I know I've heard such things, and this might relate. I've been thinking about an anti-inflammatory diet for my knee (totally unrelated to my hyst!), so if you find something that sounds legit, let us know.

LolaKobe2,

I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain...again. I can imagine how frustrated you must be.

Here's a link to the Hystersister Resources section about Adhesions . Hopefully you will be able to glean a little bit more information on your own before heading back to your .

Best of luck to you!!! I hope that you find some answers soon.

One of the frustrating things is that you cannot detect adhesions via CT scan or ultrasound so it is kind of a process of elimination. I still have that "what-if" feeling in regard to maybe it's adhesions or maybe it's something else. Not really having a definitive anser is frustrating too. Four doctors basically all said the same thing and that was it is either adhesions or IBS. My gyno made it sound like if she surgically goes in ane removes the adhesions then more adhesions would follow from that surgery.
The other frustration is that advil doesnt really help with the pain and I am not one to take heavy duty Rx pain relievers.
Ugh I am so frustrated right now.
Thanks for your advide about the anti inflamitories, I will look into it.
