I have issues- itching and pain pain 10 days post hysterectomy

I'm so glad to have found this site. I'm depressed! I still can't believe I just had this done and really can't have any more children. I know it's only been a short time since my surgery but I'm experiencing so many things. I just needed to vent. I'm not in a great deal of pain but I've been having a hard time controlling it. I've experienced an extreme amount of itching from the pain medicine my hands and palms itch so badly I thought I would cut them off. I'm quite sure I have a yeast infection and my lower back is killing me.

Any thoughts, chat, suggestion are greatly appreciated

Hi. The pain meds make me itch like crazy as well. Thought it was just me being weird. Just hang in there. I know it's tough. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The itchiness could be an allergy to the pain meds, I would call the dr and find out if it's possible. Also, if you think you have a yeast infection try adding a couple yogurts a day to your diet if your able, it always helps me prevent them especially if I've taken antibiotics. As for the back pain...I had the same thing. I think it was because I sat around too much, but as I became more active it went away. Call your doc and discuss it with them.

At the hospital, I was having some itching (probably from the pain meds) and they offered me Benadryl. People always think of Benadryl as being for hayfever and sinus allergies, but it really does work great for skin allergies too. Ask your doctor if something like that is safe with what ever else you are taking.

Also, if you are feeling like you have a yeast infection, it might be a sign that there is something else going on too. It would be best to call your doctor and discuss your issues.

As for the emotions, this is a great place to safely express any thing you might be feeling, so come on in and let it all out. Have a good cry and then rejoice in the knowledge that your health issues will soon improve. Good luck.

I had reactions to the antibiotics and the hospital gave Benedryl. It worked fairly quickly. I was impressed

I know my emotions were all over the place the first three weeks from anger to depression that I had to go through this. I even cried several times over " no longer being a woman ". It did eventually pass for me. Hopefully it will for you too. If the feelings / thoughts continue definitely talk to your doctor.

Welcome to site !! Hang in there is does get better Talk to md about pain meds he might use something that doesn't make you itch so much ! It is a journey everyday new ! I have good days bad days but love site , it helps !

Hi. I am 23 days post op from vaginal hysterectomy plus repair for rectocele and pelvic floor repair. I am filled with stitches in my perineum and still haven't been sitting as the pain continues to be worse each week instead of better. I was diagnosed with a bladder infection post op and only started antibiotics a week later due to Easter long weekend. I finished meds this past week but continue to feel swollen and itching and burning and can barely walk. I saw my Dr. two weeks ago and she said everything looked fine. I do not feel fine. Everyone says that it's normal to feel swollen and burning and itchy from surgery and the stitches. But Three weeks post op should be healing not getting worse. I think I may have a yeast infection from the meds even though I took a probiotic everyday. What is the difference between BV and yeast? I'm scared to take anymore antibiotics. Anyone feeling this miserable? I cry everyday.
