4 weekers, how are you doing ?

I am going into my fourth week from a TAH. I have always been active but I am laying low big time because this is my only chance to heal correctly. As some of you have mentioned - I am also have twinges and pulling. It really feels like nerves coming to life. I have suffered with constipation because my uterus was absolutely adhered to my colon. (my colonoscopy just prior to the TAH showed precancerous growths and I am a very healthy person!) I am learning different sensations - like if I need to have a BM, it feels so much different than before the operation. My belly is sore about 4 inches along the upper ridge of my incision. I can't wait to be active again. I can't get warm (it's 20 deg out)and I am starting to feel agitated and isolated like the world is revolving without me. I can't wait to get moving. My joints are so stiff.

I read that one of our sisters here feels very low. I have had a couple of surgeries (orthopedic, abdominal) and from my experience, the depression is temporary. Life has changed tremendously for a short period of time. Patterns of lifestyle are thrown off course. Everything will fall back into place - maybe into a much healthier place. I look at this healing time as a time to catch up on myself - if that means I am quiet and a bit teary - I am going to give myself the opportunity to feel it to heal correctly on many levels. This can't last forever!!

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

I am feeling pretty darn good. Thinking about venturing out for like the first time to get groceries with DH. I do still get really tired and am feeling the sharp little twinges and kinda crampy. I have been taking tylenol. Was thinking of getting back on my treadmill but afraid of over doing it....like someone said "my only chance to heal." I have my first Dr. check up since surgery in two days...1 1/2 hour drive :{ Hoping it goes smooth. Anxious to get my life back to normal as I am sure you all are. Continue to take it very easy as you have a very good excuse to! I also had a bladder sling put in...not quite sure yet how it is working...I know I am emptying alot better but think I might be leaking when I really have to go. I had a TVH and kept ovaries. Also still taking generic Colace a.m. and p.m. Still wearing mini pad for brownish discharge.

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

I am at the 4 week point also. I feel great with no pain...It does feel like there is still some numbness when I press on my incision so I know things are still healing inside.

On Sunday, I took a nap around 1 pm and I didn't wake up until Monday morning at 7am. I felt like I had gone into hibernation! I think my body just needed the rest after my first week back to work! Despite that long "nap" I was still in bed by 9pm on Monday night and asleep by 9:30pm.

I'm trying to walk more every day to re-gain my stamina...I can't believe how wimpy I still feel compared to my pre-surgery self.

But I'm so glad I had this surgery.....I feel a lot lighter inside, no pressure, no pain and no more mood swings!

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

Almost at 4 weeks, I'm feeling pretty good. Had a TAH BSO with multiple fibroids and endo. I've had no bleeding, no problems at all with the incision area, am getting on track with bowel problems, but it's still uncomfortable. I have trouble sleeping but have had this problem my whole life. The night sweats wake me up all night long, so tired most of the time. I have been out driving twice (to the doctor, about 5 minutes away) and found I felt much better when I got out. I'm staying with my daughter and was going to go home this past weekend but the power has been out there for four days due to a wind storm in the Northeast - I sure don't want to deal with that, so I'm staying a little longer. I'll be glad to be back in my own house though. And even more glad to be back into my work routine.

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

a few more days and I am at 4 weeks -- I still get tired and feel that buring, pulling sensation and my BM's are still painful. Some days I feel great and other days I am just wiped out. I have started working from home, which has been good for my mind. I have been able to go out on small trips here and there, but then I find myself in pain and so tired at the end of the day. I have been having a pain in my belly button when I breathe, that is how I can tell I may have over done it that day. I don't go to my DR again until March 27th, which will be exactly two months. I still can't drive, so that has been stressful on my family and friends who have been driving me around and taking me on "doggie rides" to get me out of the house. I just can't wait until I can go through a day without pain and fatigue -

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

Hi
Am almost 4 wks and have good and bad days, my belly stil hurts but not the incision, its the swell that hurts!!
Am now starting to do housework but still having to rely on hubby and son for silly little thing's, which is so frustrating as am the one who normally runs the house and a full time job.
It has been nice that my senior supervisor and other co workers have popped in to see me but i am felling so "out of the loop" where work is concerned. It just seem's that my life is on hold, and as i am an impatient person i am not the best invalid lol
Does anyone else feel like this!
Also because i am from England i don't think they operate the same here as they do there, as am getting confused about what u have all had done, or i could just be having a blonde moment lol
Hope to hear some feedback
Keep well

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

I had a tah/bso on Jan 24. I went back to work parttime after 3 weeks and this week I'm full time. I've taken nothing for pain except tylenol. I'm on premarin and the only side effect from having my ovaries removed was night sweats for the first few nights after surgery. Today I noticed some bloody drainage from my incision and it seems to be opened about 3/4 of an inch. The worst thing is that my abdomen is very distended. Today seems worse than usual. I seem to have a roll above my incision that I didn't have before surgery. I called the doctor and was told to rest and called back tomorrow. I was doing pretty good until the drainage today--hope I'm not over doing it.

4 weekers, how are you doing ?

I am 4 weeks and 4 days since my LSH and I seem to have hit a holding pattern. I was recovering really well at first, cleared my 2 week check-up just fine and was given the green light to increase my activity.

When I went for my appt, I was feeling extremely emotional and mentioned it to the Dr. and he said it was likely my ovaries and my usual cycle and things would settle down by the next cycle. Well, it's "that time" again and I am in such a state I can't stand myself. I feel like I am on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I seem to be fine one minute and the next I am exhausted and I cry at the drop of a hat. I get upset at the smallest things and bite everyone's head off. I still get tired easily when I try to excercise and I think some depression is setting in. My poor dh is so confused.. he doesn't know whether to hug me or take the kids and head for the hills.
