Post-op day 5 feelings sick and legs ache??

I had a total hysterectomy (ovaries too)LVAH to remove a tumor that was attached to my vagina. I am only forty. I felt better yesterday than today. Today my calves are aching I feel sick to my stomach. Everything tastes like a copper penny. I decided to not take the Premarin that the Dr. prescribed and I would like to try to meet menopause with a more natural approach. Last night I woke up with night sweats (thank goodness I had read on this site as to what they were or I would have totally freaked out.) I have myself freaked out about blood clots and now I am crying at the drop of a hat. I raised my voice today to my family and I feel like no one cares. Thankfully Prune juice has worked for BM so that isn't an issue except that I have only had watery stools nothing solid. Is this normal? Would I experience menopausal symptoms a mere 5 days after surgery? I feel like this hysterectomy was the right thing to do. I have not had any abdominal pain since the surgery. My incisions have not bothered me at all so I can look on the bright side of that. Any advice for me?

Re: Post-op day 5 feelings sick and legs ache??

I started having night sweats the day I came home from the hospital and I kept both my ovaries...your body is trying to get adjusted to what has happened. This is a huge major event for you. I was crying went I read one of my daughter's children s books. People who sent me get well cards...had to have the tissues handy. Thankfully, my ovaries kicked back in around 3 months later. I think my hubby was wondering when he was going to get his wife back... If you want to try getting through this without the hormones then, go for it. Just remember you have them if things start getting really bad. Keep your doctor posted on what you decided. Instead of going without hormones, your doctor might have to adjust them. There is so much that comes into play with this surgery. Give yourself time....and give your body time to adjust. Good luck to yea!!!!

Re: Post-op day 5 feelings sick and legs ache??

Im 9 days out now LAVH. I dont think I have experianced any of that stuff yet. But I know for the 1st week after my surg I was freezing all the time. Had my big sweats on all day & all night even needed thick socks. I did notice & not sure how, but I think I must have had a night sweat attack or somthing, I woke up not wet but smelt sweaty if you know what I mean. Im not sure if still having one ovary makes a differance. I have not even had the break down & cry issue yet as well. Im waiting for this to happen, I read so much here & am bracing myself for it. Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Post-op day 5 feelings sick and legs ache??

I would ask your doctor about the aching calves. That seems a bit unusual, unless they're just sore from using your legs a lot to maneuver in bed (or getting in and out).

As for your BMs, I dont think it's unusual for them to be pretty runny, especially if you're using prune juice or stool softeners.
