LAVH: switching gears from TAH to LAVH :-S

So just had my pre-op with OB/gyn....(I met with his partner previously) And amazingly he has an entire different outlook on this procedure. I had been preparing myself for TAH for many reasons (adhesions, huge uterus, etc). He is one confident/optimistic Dr. He walked me through the entire procedure and feel really good about getting everything (4 inch fibroids, 15 cm uterus) all out through my vagina THAT is amazing !!!! It changes the tune of all of my thinking...certainly there are still possibilities for a TAH, but I am feeling a little more grounded after our appt. I have had 3 abdominal surgeries and I think I was so lost in the pain from THAT sort of healing that I was overwhelmed with the thought of pain in general. I have a VERY low tolerance for pain. I know that I will still have pain - my Dr. was so glad to hear from my previous surgeries what pain pills worked for me. It is still a 'wait and see' but the crazy, overwhelmed planner in me, is a bit calmer....Fellow princesses - my advice at this point (2 weeks from surgery) is TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR - have your list ready, take someone with you, ask him/her to show you many diagrams and literally diagram the surgery! HUGS!

Thank you Yankee23. Some relief, but trying to stay grounded. I know I am still on an unknown journey....but a smile and a sense of humor might just get me through! HUGS

And BTW -- my doc laughed outloud when I referred to BSO as BOTH STUPID OVARIES!!!
