Question - cystoscopy question cystoscopy question

Hi, I was told today I probably have IC and was scheduled for a hydrocystocopy to be done a month from now. I have a friend with severe IC who has said the scopes make symptoms worse. What has been other people's experience with that? I'm not to excited about having it done. I plan to check the IC website too. Thanks.

cystoscopy question

the general concensus on the hydrodistention/cystoscopy when pertaining to IC patients is that immediately following the procedure there tends to be more pain; however after the first 24-48 hours the majority of patients report a significant decrease in symptoms...the decrease in symptoms is temporary and the hydro/cysto (usually) needs to be repeated around 3-4 months. Another factor thats been reported is that the symptoms tend to subside longer between the procedure the more the procedure is done.
Check out ichelp.org and ic-network.com...there is tons of information to be found at those two sites.
stay well.
