A positive LAVH experience to share!!
Hi Ladies, I just wanted to jump in here and let you all know about my very positive experience with my LAVH. I had my surgery on 9/30. I spent 2 nights in the castle. My morphine pump was d/c about noon the day after surgery. Most of the nurses were great, and I have already forgotten about the ones who weren't. My DH drove me an hour and a half home and I spent the next day sleeping. After that my mum came with my kids and stayed for a week. I slept and napped and slept and napped. Surprisingly I really didn't have much pain at all. It was more like discomfort then actual pain. This was a very pleasant surprise and I was prepared for the worse. I had no appetite for the first week which was a great diet for me. The 2nd week my moms club brought dinner each night which helped. I was up and moving but got tired by the end of the day, so the meals were a big blessing. Well, we are now on week three and I have no pain, I went bowling on Saturday night and I am already picking up my 19 month when he needs it.
Yes, I am having some hot flashes, but nothing too horrible. i go and see my dr on Monday to talk about HRT. I am 32 so I am concerned about. However, to be proactive, my dear hubby and I went this morning and signed up at Golds GYm.
I really appreciate everyones advice on this site. It was a very valuable resource for me. And I just wanted to let those of you who are getting super nervous to hang in there. We are all doing this for a reason and feeling better is the number 1 reason. I already feel 100 times better then I did physically before going into surgery.
Hang in there and be strong!!
Madeleine

Great to hear. Didn't realize you could pick up weight after a certain amount of time. There was some nurses I couldn't stand but some I actually liked. Keep up the faith ........... take care

A positive LAVH experience to share!!
Hi Madeline and here's to Positives! I too just posted on Keep Positive - as I am 3 weeks Post-op and have felt great ever since coming home from the castle! I fortunately have recovered quickly and literally with no probs! My swelly belly has gone totally down - just a bit of tenderness at the incision site - but dear Dr. said I am looking great! I have lost - get this - 18 pounds! I have a great Dr, and most of all a Loving DH. No kids - but I have the most loving pets (2 dogs and 1 cat) who give me unconditional love! I have really, really good friends and neighbors, and co-workers! I am 44 years young, and am just totally enjoying everything! A few more weeks of total "me" time as I will head back to work in 2 more weeks! I really wanted to go back 1 week earlier - go figure? --- maybe it is my relief that I know I am healthier now more than ever before! This new outlook on life is very healthy in many ways - physically & mentally!!! Whatever it is - I wish I can bottle it! I am so happy and !
Yes the days, weeks, before hyster are full of anxiety, but knowing that it is all worth it when you return from the Castle is the best thing! Getting lots of rest, eating healthy, and walking as best you can is truly a positive! I have been cleared to do low-impact aerobics - and I can hardly wait to start on my Tai Chi once more... Keep up the good work Madeline!
Best of luck and love to all my hyster sisters! and LIW

You go girl!!!
Hooray to you for posting this!!
I hope to see more sisters with positive stories to do postings like this. I too had a great experience with no problems.
The waiting is the hardest part. When I woke up in recovery and realized that I have had periods with more pain than I was having then- with out them having given me anything yet!
These are the words that our LIW need to hear - hopefully you will get more replies - I know that there are lots of Princesses out there with good stories!!
