Hot flashes

I have been experiencing what I *think* are mild hot flashes for a couple years now. But I am not sure if that's what they are, especially since my FSH levels show that I am not going through menopause.

The hot-flash like symptoms are: Warmth on the face, neck and arms, almost as if someone turned up the heater. No sweating, but just an uncomfortable warm feeling. In the two months, these episodes now come with a burning, almost like sunburn feeling, on my arms.

The symptoms come on suddenly, and go away slowly. I've not timed them, but they can bother me anywhere from a minute to maybe 10 minutes. I can have several in one day, for days in a row. Then I can have days where I have none.

Does this sound like a hot flash?

Edited to add that I have not yet had my hysterectomy. I am just curious if what I'm experiencing now will become a 24/7 type of thing.

Hot flashes

It sounds like they could be hot flashes. I had my surgery in April, and now that I know what hot flashes feel like for me I realize that I had been having some for a few years prior. I didn't have the sunburn feeling on my arms like you are having, but I would get this warm feeling. No sweating ever, but just warm and mostly it would start in my head and upper body. It's hard to say how often you will get them after surgery. Mine were not bad before and they still aren't. Maybe your experience will be similiar! Hope all goes well with you in Aug!

Hot flashes

Prior to my surgery, I was having hot flashes and night sweats. I thought they were bad then. When I was about 3 weeks post-op, WOW! I DID have HOT flashes, lasting 15 minutes that burned my skin and I broke out in a sweat; AND the night SWEATS! I had to change my nitey a couple times a night...Once I was on estradiol, the extremes were quenched. Now I don't have much in the way of hot flashes; my night sweats are fairly mild, but I do wake up damp. Of course, now I also can cry on a dime, crawl in a hole to hide, pounce like a grizzly bear and tear flesh, depending on whatever the heck swing is swinging in my body now. ugh.

Hot flashes

I was having hot flashes off and on, perimenopause. The levels go up and down and you can't measure them. After my TAH BSO, I have been on the Climera patch. Works great for me.

Hot flashes

Oh, I was just going to post something of the like on here! I just had my hyster with cervical removal but ovaries left intact (as intact as they can be I suppose! I had also had a tubal ligation wtih the birth of my last son in '04) I have started to have a mini-type of hot flashes since my hysterectomy and I was wondered if my body just doesn't know what to do since it has been jumbled about. So maybe people can comment on both our issues...

Beauty Queen, I have no first-hand knowledge, but from what I have read it is normal for your ovaries to take a bit of a break after a hysterectomy. They should start working again in a couple of weeks.
