Sweating
I've checked other postings on sweating, but the ones I've looked at still have their ovaries or were pre-menopausal when they had their hysterectomies.
I went through menopause ten years before my DaVinci total hysterectomy three months ago. I didn't sweat at all even during hot flashes.
I never sweat in all my life, but now I'm sweating like crazy, even when I'm not hot. Right now, I have sweat pouring down my back. My feet smell, and I have all sorts of body odor that I never had before.
I'll be bringing this up when I see my doctor again, but I have a funny feeling she'll brush it off.
Advice?

Re: Sweating
My mom went thru what you're talking about at about exactly your age. She had a Hysterectomy around age 30 and already went thru menopause. It seems from my memory it lasted about a year. She would sweat (dripping) in the middle of winter. She never had to be hot. I feel for you. I know how miserable my mom was. Please don't let you're Dr just brush it off. That's not something to just suffer thru. Only advice I really can offer is make sure you're drinking lots of water. I hope you'll find answers n feel better soon.

Re: Sweating
Here is something to consider. Even in menopause, the ovaries secrete trace amounts of estrogen. Thus, menopausal women who have their ovaries removed can be put into surgical menopause because those trace amounts of hormones are gone. As a result, they can experience menopause symptoms. You might find this article interesting: Surgical Menopause after Natural Menopause.
Sweating can be a menopause issue. It can also be a sign of blood sugar or thyroid issues, both of which can be triggered by menopause. Excessive sweating may also indicate an infection. Some medications and supplements could cause sweating issues.
Because sweating can be a sign of an undiagnosed medical problem, you definitely need to talk to your doctor.

Re: Sweating
To add to what Weiser just said, My mom did have a blood sugar issue at that time. She would eat glucose tablets right in the store we were in.. (before she bought them) Said that was the only thing that would settle her down..

Re: Sweating
I am post menopausal by about 10 years and had m y hysterectomy end of May. I kept my ovaries - little tiny shrunken up things that they are....however, I've noticed that I am sweating a lot more than ever - usually with my menopause I would get sweats at night, nothing too awful or I am just used to them...but now I get hot and clammy during the day too, and my night sweats are worse. I'm thinking my ovaries got woken up a little from the surgery and are letting me know they're not too happy about it! I'm hoping it will all calm down eventually. Make sure your doc addresses this...don't leave til you get an answer. Here's a big hug! Hang in there.
