I have been doing well up til last night. I must have slept wrong because when I woke up this morning it felt as though I tore something , I was so sore. I didn't take anything yet and the pain went away. I did try sleeping on my left side,. Should I be sleeping on my sides yet? I also have been having back pain, not alot. And just before I have to have a bm that horrible sensation, like you have gas, hurts. It feels as though it rools around in my abdomin area. I am nervous that it will pull stitches,is that possible? any advice????

my dr and nurses said i could sleep on my side right away, i just used pillows to support me. i couldn't handle sleeping on my back. when i got home after 4 days in the hossy my lower back was very swollen around the tailbone area. they told me that sleeping on my side would not tear stitches. just move slow and ask for help if needed. it was much easier sleeping on my side in the hossy because i could use the rails to move me LOL. at home it was much more difficult. i was still on extra strength vicadin where you are at and was on it until 3 1/2 weeks post op. don't let yourself get into too much pain because that slows the healing progress. best wishes and take care. ohh yeah its very normal for your back to hurt, mine finally quit hurting so bad last week.

Hi Jade-Rose,

I have the same thing. One day I will feel good, next it feels if something is really wrong. I guess it's part of healing. If it didn't get better, only got worse, then I would worry and call your doc. But since it does get better then the healing is continuing. The first few times I slept on my sides, I woke up in horrible pain. Gradually went away. Must be from insides "shifting". I also get the pains before a BM, sometimes they stick around for 20 minutes afterward too. As long as you're not straining to have a BM, I doubt it could pull stitches. Walking helps a lot with the gas pains. I hope this helps.........
