4 days post op

I had my total hysterectomy on Wednesday the 15Th August 2012 its been 4 days, and I am hoping to go home from hospital tomorrow. I had a reaction (itching all over badly and a rash) to the morphine the doctor gave me, and they have now me on endone and panamax. I am very annoyed the doctors think major surgery only needs some light pain relief. I can hardly walk, can't even pull my own pants up from attempting to go to the toilet... With no success( number 2) I can't even sit up properly. The doctors said they can't give me anything stronger. This is beyond a joke now. The nurses check my obs every 5 hrs, they have pretty much left me alone, and dont help me with the mental side of things. I would not recommend the Logan hospital in Brisbane to have a hysterectomy at. I just want to go home.

Re: 4 days post op

You recover better at home, i truly believe that. Your doctor could of given you a stronger pain med then what he did to help you cope eith the pain since you had a reaction to the morphine I am sorry to hear you are having a rough time with the doctor and stay did not have my 1st BM until I was 6 days post up and it was 4 small rocks lol. Hang in there hun.

Thanks for that. Its funny how my lifes priorities have changed to passing wind and bowel movements....lol I was very excited to pass wind as I felt so much relief. My emotions are all over the place and hope the HRT will make me feel a little less nutty.

Re: 4 days post op

I also am allergic to morphine. My doc gave me muscle relaxers which helped a lot. I don't know if that would help. Hope you get to go home. Sending hugs
