After some adenomyosis and pre - post op advice

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis in Sept 07. I have always had really heavy periods but went to the doctor as I kept getting what i thought was kidney pain, as a result on each occasion I was found to have urinary/kidney infection. After several courses of anti biotics I went back and said that i still had pain, and was also experiencing pain with intercourse. Doctor did pap smear and when he performed an internal I was nearly through the roof when he pressed different areas on my stomach. This caused deep concern so I was sent to have a vaginal * abdominal ultrasound.

The findings were that my uterus is bulky & the myometrium is heterogenous consistent with adenomyosis. The endometrium also was noted to have secretory appearance.

I have just been to see gyno who left me in a lot of pain after poking and proding. He stated hysterectomy is the only cure for this. I am now concerned about post op problems as well as scared about whether this will affect our sex life? I have read that some women dont have orgasms again or that they are not as satisfying?

Can anyone offer me any advice? I am about to be 34 and have 3 children vaginally with no complications before this.

If you have any questions or concerns about your up coming surgery and the possible outcomes, be sure to talk them over with your doctor prior to surgery. You want to weigh all the pros and cons for you and be sure the the possible risks are worth it for you.

Did you have a second opinion?

I wish you well for your upcoming surgery! s
