is anyone coughing alot?

Is anyone else coughing alot since returning from the castle?
I am 2 weeks post op today - TAH kept 1 ovary....anyway, I have this nagging cough that is irritating my insides and I feel extra sore. I am afraid to take anything for it because of all the meds I have taken lately, but it looks like I might have to.

Just wondering if anyone else has been going through this as well.

Hi Bellalou,

I'm 12 days post-op, and don't have a cough per-se, but have had a tickle in my throat since being in the castle. I have been attributing it to being intubated during the surgery, sometimes the tube can leave your throat irritated and sore for quite a while afterward. I wish it would go away already, as it *is* getting tiresome!

Your cough isn't a 'wet' cough is it? If you are coughing phlegm up, maybe you should have your Doc check it out?

Good luck!

Hi, I am also 2 weeks post op today. For the first week, I had to cough a lot. I don't know if I was coughing more or just that I noticed the pain everytime I coughed. Do you have sinus problems? I think that was my problem and I just wasn't able to get a productive cough because of the pain so it lingered a while. Call your doc and ask if it is o.k. to take something. I am sure they wouldn't mind. Best of luck.

is anyone coughing alot?

I've been off the smokes for nearly 7 years, so I rarely cough anymore, but hospital people made me do little "baby coughs" while I was there. My throat was dry and scratchy and sore immediately following surgery, which I know is from the tube. Yesterday, I was a little congested, so my mom encouraged me to cough some. You will have to cough some to prevent the anesthesia from settling in your lungs so you don't get pneumonia. If it becomes too much, I recommend Riccola cough drops, the regular flavor, not the other ones. They taste a bit like horehound candy but they sure stop my coughing. Just beware of that first SNEEZE. I had mine yesterday. WoW!
