4 wks post-op, still bleeding.....

I am bleeding when I urinate. Only then. It is bright red and definately not just pinkish spotting. This has actually been going on since shortly after I got home from surgery. I have had some other minor problems like UTI and yeast infections, over-doing it and the nurse told me to sit and stay put for 3 days straight last week! Since this seems to be related to urination, do I call the doc's office about it or just wait. I also have the weirdest slight pains and twinges going on in my belly. Things that I don't really put down as healing pains altho since I have never had a hyst before, I guess I don't know what I should be feeling! I don't want the doc to think that I am a big wimp since I have called 2 times since surgery (resulting in UTI and yeast infections). Advice/ideas anyone?

HI there!
Definitely call the doctor! That's what you pay him/her for. Since this bleeding does not seem to be making progress on it's own and you have had problems with UTIs already, I'd say you definitely need to call and let THEM decide whether or not you should be seen.

Good luck!

cowwalker,
Yes, for sure, give them a call. It doesn't matter what they think. This shouldn't be continuing. If they aren't concerned about this, which would surprise me, be sure to ask them why it would be continuing after all this time and how long you should expect it to last and what you should do if it doesn't go away. This has gone on long enough.
Let us know what they say.
's, Rita

I called the office today. After discussing everything and all with the nurse, I agree that I am probably just healing slowly. I am comfortable with this answer. They are so wonderful and reassuring about everything. I go for my 6 week check up on Aug 2 so hopefully I will be better by then. I guess I am just tired of being tired (along with the other little bits and pieces, you know?).
