Week 4 Recovery

I was sent home with antibiotics and pain meds. I avoided pain meds with narcotics because I had such a violent reaction to morphine in the hospital. I was only on Extra Strength Tylenol.

I went in for my 2 week post op exam by my doctor on 12/18/12. She only spoke to me about any tenderness or pain symptoms. I walked normally and told her about tenderness during early bowel movements and when my bladder was full. I was on MiraLax at first then on stool softeners. I rested and made sure I ate when I was hungry to give my body enough fuel to heal.

Tomorrow, January 4, marks 4 weeks since surgery. I feel GREAT! I am walking quickly and normally. I am ready to get back to golf. Dr. told me to wait until January 12 to start golfing again. She was very pleased with my progress. I will be golfing 2 weeks earlier than first projected. YAY!

What I notice since the hysterectomy is that the 'real estate' in my pelvic floor no longer has a buldge showing. My urine stream is straighter and less crowded. My bowel is functioning normally, frequently and painfree.

All in all, this was an easy surgery because I followed my doctor's orders and the laproscopic surgery technique allowed for a speedy recovery.

Re: Week 4 Recovery

That is great! Be careful not to over do it now that you are feeling so good. It is easy to do without even knowing it until you pay for it later.

Re: Week 4 Recovery

Thank you, cmea82. I agree and I do listen to my body. I'll ease into golf and the 5Ks. I am looking into my 5K in Feb in Palm Springs. I can walk the entire thing and probably will.
