Should I still be this sore?

I'm 16 days post op after a TAH am still in a lot of pain! I got a terrible cold/cough just after surgery so that could contribute to slow progress. I still can hardly get in and out of chair or roll over in bed. Way too painful to sleep on my side or sit up straight on a hard chair. Am I just being a woos? I'm worried my healing progress is too slow and won't be able to go back to work when I'm supposed to on May 27. I'll also be moving my daughter may 15 and will be staying in a hotel for a week. I'm just really worried I won't be feeling better.

Re: Should I still be this sore?

It seems I remember week 5 being my magic week, I think? After 3 weeks there was a lot of improvement, but 5 I started to feel somewhat normal again.

Re: Should I still be this sore?

I'm 7 weeks post op and am still at home due to hurting myself in my 5th week. Whatever you do, rest, rest, rest n don't do anything your not supposed to so you may heal prooerly and return to work. Youll still be healing come May 15th so do only what you can and continue to rest while your in the hotel. Dont hurt yourself or you'll have to stay or of work longer.

Re: Should I still be this sore?

You are still early in recovery. Normal recovery for a TAH is 6-8 week. I know that you expected to be further along but try to be patient. Think of yourself as the turtle in a race. Slow and steady wins the race. If you still have pain meds, take them as scheduled, try not to wait until the pain is really bad before you take it, it takes longer to work that way. Your body can't concentrate on healing if it's focused on your pain.

If you have a binder, where it. The support will help. Make sure to walk a little each hour that you are not resting and although it hurts doing so, try to stand up as straight as you can. Day by day, little by little, it Will get better.

You may not be physically ready to lift boxes to help your daughter move. You may be able to do some light stuff, but not the heavy stuff. You don't want to hury yourself and cause future problems.

I know that this is frustrating, but it really does get better. Everyone heals a a different pace. Your body is healing at the right rate for you.

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you
