Belly-button oozing - 4 wks post-op
So, this is probably a really common issue: my belly button incision has decided to start oozing. Last Friday (04.17.2013), I was at 3wks post-op and there was a very small amount (< 1 tsp) of clear, but reddish-brownish fluid that gushed out; this was followed by the large scab falling off. These past two days, there's some oozing - I went to the surgeon's office and her assistant/nurse cleaned it, gave me instructions on cleaning with a water/hydrogen peroxide solution), sent me home. She sent some off to see if there's an infection (results on Tuesday). Today there's still some oozing - not gushing, and sometimes the belly-button has been dry as stone. After the above noted cleaning, the belly-button has been hurting and reddish (more scabbing came off). I've cleaned it three times today, as instructed at appx 2-hour intervals.
Should I worry? The nurse didn't seem overly concerned (she was not dismissive at all). I've not noticed a fever; all the other incisions are healing nicely.
One a not entirely unrelated note: is it odd that whenever I refer to the belly-button with close friends (and hystersisters), I use "belly-button", but with people I'm not that intimate with I use "navel"?

Re: Belly-button oozing - 4 wks post-op
I was told that the incision at, above, below your belly button is where the camera goes in and is manipulated more than the others. Mine was still oozing at the belly button site when I went in at 3 weeks. My doctor's assistant removed my steri-strips from the incision, cleaned it and told me to keep a bandaid and antibacterial ointment on it. It finally started to heal and it stopped oozing. Hopefully yours is the same. Good luck.

Yeah I forgot to add that I was to let it "air" at night, which means to leave it as open as possible to dry out, so no bandaid or ointment.
