HI, I'm new to this site and an looking for information about hysterectomy. I had my right tube removed 10 years ago and recently started having sever pain on period. I am recovering from a laparoscopy done on the 16th of April. Dr. is recommending full hysterectomy. They found scar tissue on left tube, endometriosis, cyst on ovary. Follow up appointment with Dr. is next Monday. I'm afraid to lose my ovaries, afraid of gaining weight, going throug menopose, etc. Looking for info on what will happen to my body after sugery, how will I feel, etc?

Hi Liney, welcome to this site. I wish you didn't have to be here, but it is a great place to find information. If you haven't already, you might want to post on the Hormone Jungle and ask for advice about the feelings you might have after they remove your ovaries. I don't have much to offer except big ears for listening, solid shoulders for leaning on and open arms for offering hugs when necessary.

I hope that you find what you are looking for her. Make lists of the questions and information that you find while here, it can help when you go back to your doctor. Arm yourself with all of the knowledge you can and get as informed as you are able! Good luck!

Hi Liney!

I'm new here too and have the same concerns as you - you didn't say how old you are and if you have children. That's my biggest concern - I don't have children but have been recommended for a hysterectomy (but the dr. said I can wait a couple years). I'm scared to but am hopeful that when I have it done I will feel better. I'm 34 and feel that the last 17 years have been a total waste, I've been so depressed, pmsing all the time, etc. I just want to feel good. I'm having a lap on May 1st (my second in 4 years) and will find out how bad things really are in there - In a way I'm hoping that everything is ok and in another way I'm hoping it's a mess so they can do the hyst. sooner than planned. Because I have endo, they will have to remove the ovaries and I'm scared about taking hormones - definately go to the hormone jungle and check it out - it's helping me become much more informed when the time comes! Good luck and talk, it makes you feel better.
