internal sutures that haven't dissolved.

Is anyone else having problems with internal sutures? I had LAVH 5 weeks ago and had my first internal exam. The Dr. said I still had my sutures. I was surprised when he said this. Is this unusual? What happens if they don't dissolve? Do they need to be removed? He wants to see me again in 3 more weeks!! I'm a bit concerned about this. Has anyone heard of sutures taking longer?

My 4 week visit, my sutures were not dissolved. He wanted to see me again in 3 weeks, they still were not dissolved. I go back in 4 weeks. He did silver nitrate on the last visit. I have noticed a few that have fallen out. He said it was not unusal, nor is he concerned.

I went back 6 wks postop. DR said sutures were only about half dissolved. Continued all restrictions for 6 more weeks. I am glad to know that I am not the only one with slow dissoving sutures.

My sutures didn't desolve for almost 7 weeks...my doc told me that everyone heals differently and some people's sutures heal in 3 weeks, some take 8 weeks...

Don't stress...I'm sure it'll be fine!

Now I feel better knowing it's okay to still have sutures after 5 weeks!! I guess we all heal at different rates.
Thanks! at least I know I'm not alone and there's nothing to really be concerned about.
