I'm not sure about the fever but it could be related to the cyst rupturing. I've had several complex cyst in the past and when they rupture you have a risk of infection because the fluid is just sitting in the abdominal cavity. Each time I've had one ruptured I get a antibiodic shot and have to take some by mouth also. Have you been to the doctor since your fever started? I just had my left ovary removed last Wed. and my hysterectomy was 5 months ago. Same situation as you, they left my left ovary and then it had to go. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the information. I just called the doctor he told me its very common with the type of cyst as long as it doesn't get over 101 and last more than 3 days. How was the recoverey when you got your left ovary out was it anything like the Hyster. are you on any hormones. I think im more scared to have the ovary remove then my TAH that was my last little hope i had down there. im so scared to hit menapause. Im sure it not very many 25 year old in menapause. The doctor told me I will not experince it. As soon as I get out of surgery I will be giving a patch and weeks later I will be giving natural hormone he stated "Its like you will never go through menapause". Please keep me in your prayers.

It's not as bad as my hysterectomy but I am very sore. I think it's going to take me about 2-3 wks to get back to work, but I'm sure I'll still be sore. I was very scared about this surgery too. I am taking hormones and feeling okay. I still have some hot flashes but I'm going to give it some time. Good luck!

What kind of surgery do they generally do to remove an ovary? Can they do it laprascopically?

it depends how big the cysts are accordingto the doc. In most cases they do a surgical cut especially like me I had 2-cesection, tah, tube tieds, and lapro.

Stucker,
I'm having my right ovary taken out tomorrow through my bikini scar because of the size of the cyst and the number of adhesions I had from 4 c-sections and the TAH followed by an exploratory lap for hemorrhage after the TAH.

Thanks guys. Right now my ovary is 5.6 x 5.9 x 4.6 and the cyst inside is 4.9 x 3.7 so I'm not sure if they would have to take my ovary or not. I'll be discussing it with my doctor on Thursday. Just wondered what you all had. Thanks again!!!

In my case, he took out my ovary lap. through my bikini incision. He made three small incisions, one in belly button, one on the left side (very small) and the bikini incision. I've got some bruising from where he took the ovary out and my stomach seems more sore this time because in the hyst. he removed everything vaginally. However, the surgery only took about 30-45 minutes and I think having a shorter surgery, being asleep a lot shorter period of time and not in the hospital that long made a big difference. I got the hospital at 10 am and was home at 4:30 pm. Good luck. I had the ovary removed due to severe endo. It came back with a vegence. My husband has been very upset and wondering why he didn't take it in June to save me another surgery and recovery. It's frustrating but my dr. said it was a judgement call. I don't know what to think. I had a lap. done in Jan. 2005 to diagnose the endo. and it was severe then and in June 2005 it had nearly tripled, so why he thought it'd 'get better' after that ???? Oh well. It's all said and done now and I'm on my way to recovery! Hopefully NO MORE surgeries for a long time!! Let me know how you do...and good luck...

Yes my situation is the same, I had my hyster in Aug. now I am having an abdominal surgery (which i have never had) to take out my ovaries which were suppose to have come out in Aug. Are these Drs just wanting MORE money for More surgery or what?? This seems CRAZY huh???
