1 week post-op and depression is bringing me down

My surgery was last Friday and although it has gone reflectively well physically, emotionally I'm a wreck. I have been so depressed and I just want to give up. My husband has not been the support that I needed and I'm falling apart.

Sorry hearing your depress. I don't have a husband but I do have brothers and male friends and they just don't get it. You should look for support between women. My sisters, cousins, aunts, mom and girl friends have been great.

I am so sorry to hear this. It is VERY hard when no one around you really seems to get it. This is major surgery for crying out loud. The emotional aspect is a difficult component of this to deal with. This site is a HUGE help and there are great people here. The depression will lift, there will be brighter days ahead for you. It is all so very fresh right now. Give yourself time and space to heal. Take the time to find joy in the little things day to day. Do things that you love...pamper yourself in little ways. Each day will get a little better.

Oh hon... I'm so sorry!! As someone who has struggled with depression, I know how dark it can feel. Do call your dr- there is no reason why you should continue To struggle. Talking about it, maybe meds or supplements for a time can be very helpful. For example, B Complex helps.

Good luck and prayers for you- I hope you move out of this valley quickly. Ps- men are pretty clueless. ((((Hugs))))

So sorry! I have the same troubles so I understand. It helped so much just getting on here and reading about everybody's journey. We are in the same boat together. Hang in there.

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling emotionally. Please try to find someone local to help get you some support...or a phone friend. Definitely keep in touch with your doctor - you don't have to go through this alone!

Re: 1 week post-op and depression is bringing me down

Hang I there, call your mom, sister, or friend. Perhaps one can come visit you and bring lunch. I scheduled a lunch date with my friends as often as I could and it always helped chear me up. To make it even better, pack up all your unused tampons you have in the house and give them away as a gift....that has to make you smile a little

Don't forget, we are all in this together, post away sister, we are here for you!!
