Cronic Pain....- Suicidal!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry for the pain you are going through. I have had pelvic pain for the last ten months. My hyster reduced the pain, but I still have it. Mine is coming from the sacral nerves.

The best thing I ever did was to see a pain control specialist. Mine is wonderful. He understood my pain and understood my frustration with it. You may have to sign a contract that looks scary, but since they deal with heavy duty drugs this is necessary. Don't let the paperwork send you away. I almost left when they showed my the contract and I am glad I didn't. The specialist can give you steroid injections, set you up with a TENS unit (which is a little piece of heaven), give you pain meds (I'm on Vicodin) and other options.

I hope you get some relief. I know how difficult it is to live with constant pain.

Cronic Pain....- Suicidal!!!!!!!!

Well hello all,
I had my hysterectomy (oopherectomy), in 2002, & have just found this site. If only I had found it sooner. I had my op due too a large ovarian cyst, & very heavy blledung with my periods. They use to be so bad that for the first 2 days of my period I couldn't leave the house. This was very difficult with 3 children at the time aged 5, 3 & 1. I felt that this was a vey good option for me as I needed to have surgery anyway, so why not kill 2 birds with one stone.
I have now been suffering with cronic pain for 2 & a half years since my op. I have had 2 laproscopes, the 1st revealing nothing the 2nd showed 4 staples left from the hysterectomy. I thought that surely must have been the problem. That was back in September, & the pain is even worse & getting worser. 2 & a half years is such along time to be in such a state. I am basically an invalid, I don't go anywhere in case I double over, I have times when I feel like I am in labour, & I walk around rubbing my tummy (which looks like I am 5 to 6 months pregnant) waitng till the pain tablets & suppositories take effect.
I have no life because of how I am. I feel very guilty that I am not the Mum & wife that I should be. I have had suicidal thoughts, although I tcould never go through with them as I love my family to much (call me selfish - joke). I thought that I was having the op. to have a better life. Right now I am basically bed ridden.
The pain is low down & spreads to my hips & thighs. It gets worse with activity eg. bending or stretching. I currently am taking approx. 20 tablets & 3 suppositories a day. They consist of Tramal SR 200, Tramal 50mg, Mersyndol, & Voltaren 100. This is no longer releiving the pain, I am in tears alot because of this, & what damage it is doing to my body. I have been told by all my DR's that I will probably be like this for the rest of my life as it is more than likely nerve damage. I have been refered to a pain clinic on the 4th Feb. Can anybody give me advice about what might be wrong and also what they do at the pain clinic.

Please I'm at my wits end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you

Hi Paula,
Thankyou so much for your info. I know that a TENS machine is used during some labours, so they must be good. Can you sleep with it on? My pain wakes me alot at night. Was this one of the first options you were given at your pain centre? How are you coping now, & do you have to keep going to the centre? I was told that I will probably be put on Morphine, & that this would be the only place I could get scripts for it.

I really don't mind what they do or give me, as long as it works. It was starting to get to the stage that my hubby & I thought that I wouldn't get the help that I need In Oz.

Thanks again. I will look out for your posts in the future to see how you are going.

Welcome to Hystersisters!

While I am so sorry you are in pain, I am glad you found us. Many of the sisters here are in daily pain and are going through Pain Management with a PM doc and are doing well with that. I hope you find lots of support, information and encouragement. That's what we are here for!

Cronic Pain....- Suicidal!!!!!!!!

(((astrix))))

I totally understand how you feel even though I have never had suicidal thoughts. I am a chronic pelvic pain sufferer and there are many of us here on this board. My pain is from recurrent adhesions and as you can tell from my sig line, I have had a few surgeries that didn't work. I take a lot of medicine as well and they are slowly losing their effect. I see a PM doc on Feb. 25thand I hope she can help me. She specializes in chronic pelvic pain, so at least she won't think it is all in my head. May I ask how many docs have you seen about this?
I pray that you find relief soon as I do for all my sisters who are hurting.
My pain gets worse with activity as well, so I have to plan everything I do around my pain med schedule. Even the grocery store will have me coming home in tears. I am no longer working and filing for disability. I pray that is short lived and I find enough relief to return to a job that I love ( registered nurse) but right now, I don't see it happening. Cause while they are fixing the pain while I am just sitting here for a little while, I need to move about. I can't sit for longer than 2hours or stand for an hour before the pain gets bad.
I am glad you found us now, better late then never.
Sending tons of 's and prayers your way.

Thankyou

Hi Michelle,
Thankyou for replying to my thread. It is so good to finally find support of people who can honestly sypathise with you. I have found it so hard to explain to people what I am going through. Because I am basically a happy person, they look at you & say "Oh! you poor thing. Hey did you hear about....." I feel that they knida shurg off what I've just said. I told my husband & family, if I had a bad leg, & when I was in bad pain I limped, you would know I was having a bad day, but because I try my best to put on a happy face everyone just forgets that you are actually feeling like crap.

What do you do to cope emotionally?

Blessings from

Don't fear

Dear Alina,
Don't fear! I don't think that what I am going through is normal. I think that the most important thing is that you should get a few opinions about the nessesity of any surgery that you have. The best way that I could describe my pain is that it feels like labour pains that don't peak & subside, they just peak & stay there until the pain killers take effect. It varies though, sometimes it is like really bad period pain. Sometimes like my ovaries are exploding.

Just research the best that you can before your sugery. Some people say that it is the best thing that they ever did, but I guess it just depends on each individual circumstance.

My recovery was really good. I was feeling great 1 week post op. It just didn't last. Good luck with your desission. Also try to find out the surgical background of the doctor performing the op. Ask him/her if she has had any patients with bad results.

God Bless
