Bleeding

Hi all, Around day 10 post-op I started spotting. Before this I had none. Then yesterday afternoon I started actually bleeding. I called and the nurse said if it didn't slow down in a couple hours to call back that my doctor was on call. It did slow down some but I am still bleeding bright red. Has anyone else experienced this? How much bleeding is normal? Why would it start after 10 days of nothing? I guess I won't being doing much today because I am afraid if I am up much the bleeding will get worse.

Bleeding

Good for you for calling your nurse. Its a shame she didn't provide you with a gauge to know at what point you should be concerned. If you are having to change a pad more than once an hour or so, I would be concerned. Also if you are passing clots or running a fever.

Sometimes blood gets trapped behind stitches and as they dissolve it escapes. The blood slowing has to be a good sign but I would still be worried just like you are.

Bleeding

Mine was also done 9/8, LAVH, BSO, Posterior Repairs...I am still bleeding bright red. Went to Dr. this past Thurs & he felt I was bleeding/oozing more than I should. He took blood--no infection. When do you go for follow-up? If you are still bleeding red--I would have them do a CBC to make sure there is no infection. Is your belly swollen? Also did you really increase your activity?--that can increase the bleeding. Feel Better!!
