Upcoming hysterectomy 4/19: Scared and lonely.

Hello everyone. I have been reading posts for a bit but just started posting and answering today. So I am sorry that I am rambling on. I guess I am just reaching out looking for support. My surgery is 4/19/ 2016 and I am starting to get nervous and lonely. My husband is very supportive and loving but he has to travel for work and is out of town this week. So he isn't here for me to fret with. My rock was my mother and she passed away in December of 2014 during a serious surgery. I have had major surgery before (heart valve repair in 1998) so I think everyone thinks that I should be just cool as a cucumber but I am not. My moms passing during surgery is weighing on my mind and being alone this close has my crazy mind on overdrive. Am I overreacting to be just a bit freaked out???

Hey Valcary,
I'm scheduled for a TLH on Friday April 15th...just a few days before you. Fretting some...and then praying for peace of mind and just staying calm. Easier said then done, I know! I'm sorry for the loss of your Mother...times like this when we miss them the most. Since your hubby is traveling this week...hopefully he'll be by your side next week!
It is nice to read the posts here...especially pre-op...they are reassuring and it's nice to know we're "not alone". You have a huge community of "sisters" going through this with you...be encouraged and take one day at a time. Focus on a positive outcome and seeing yourself "on the other side" of the surgery, as they say! I for one...am praying for you!
Hugs...

Re: Scared and lonely.

You are not over reacting at all. My surgery is tomorrow and I have been on this forum a lot this week. It's a great tool to have support from women who know what you are going through. I think if those people had the fibroid you did they would not be questioning your decision. I also find that you ladies never get tired of hearing about the surgery where sometimes I think my family is so lucky I found this forum, because they have not had to hear about my surgery all the time hahaha

Re: Scared and lonely.

Hi Valcary1969 to HysterSisters!

First off, I am sorry you lost your mom. It is hard to go through this surgery without your mom by your side. I lost my mom as well 7 years before my surgery.

All of your feelings, emotions, nerves and anxiety are very normal. You are not overreacting - not at all. Having surgery so soon after your mom died in surgery would weigh on your mind.

Just know that you are not alone in any of this - never on this site! We are here for you, and are only a few mouse clicks away.

Re: Scared and lonely.

Hi, you are not alone with these feelings. This is scary stuff. Losing your Mom that way is sure to be on your mind now and a cause for concern. It is good to have a place to share these feelings.
I lost both parents to cancer and miss them terribly right now more than ever.
Understand your feelings about your Mom.
Wishing you the best .....safe, successful surgery and recovery.

Hi, my surgery (TAH) id scheduled for the 19th as well. I'm also really scared and nervous but I think that's normal.... Sorry to hear about your Mom passing away, that is very sad.... You will be fine and I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Will be thinking of you on Tuesday, good luck....
