I need help!

To make a very long story short-- I had a hysterectomy 7 months ago, and kept both ovaries. I haven't slept a night since !! I just recently had my hormone levels checked (by saliva) to see what in the world is wrong. My estrogen levels were very high! I was having PMS symtoms constantly, and no sleep, and I wasn't even able to rest. My doctor put me on 100 mg. of Prometrium (tonight is first night trying it) but she wants me to take it everyday but the 5 days that I would normally have my period.(I still have mini periods because of cervix) Is is really OK to be on progesterone that many days out of the month? My fear is that it might make my estrogen levels go too low, and thats the last thing I need. I have heard where some people use it 10 days out of the month, I am really confused now about what to do?? I know you all are not doctors, but honestlly sometimes I think experience counts for something. Any advice would be appreciated! Also, the ONLY symptom I am dealing with is insomnia, everything else is great !! except a little extra weight

I need help!

I was on progesterone constantly for 3 months before my surgery. It made me wacky, but it did help with the problem. Progesterone won't lower the estrogen levels but it does counter the effects in a way. Unopposed estrogen is a concern as many cancers are estrogen driven. Good luck!
