Surgical Report 8 weeks post-op?

Can someone tell me how to get my surgical report this late in the game? Do I need to get it from my Drs or the hospital that did my surgery? Who would I need to contact at the hospital to get a copy of my report? I did see a $600 charge on my bill for that report so I should have a copy right?

I also would like to know how big my fibroids were, how thick my uterus was, and how large...etc, etc, etc...What it says about my ovaries and such. I got the pictures, but not the actual report.

Thanks for your help ladies

Re: Surgical Report 8 weeks post-op?

Call the medical records department at the hospital, or you could get them from your doctor. Interesting that you didn't get a pathology report. Most of your questions would have been answered on that. I'm glad you got pictures. My surgeon was going to film it, but forgot to load the camera.

I need to get my surgery report so I can give it to my family doc. He had left the group practice just before I found out I would need surgery, and his new office is now open. YAY! He's been my doc for 19 years. I'll see him on the 10th to adjust my HRT.

Re: Surgical Report 8 weeks post-op?

I called the hospital, and got my records from them. This ended up being my surgical and pathology report. I got a copy for myself and had one sent to my GP. I did the same for my records at my gyn's office - which are short but sweet since I saw her a whole three times before surgery. The final measurement for my uterus and largest fibroid came from the pathology report. The measurements from my ultrasound before surgery were in my gyn records, although those were inaccurate - ultrasound can only show them a limited amount.

Bottom line, it's never too late to ask for your records. Give both a call, and they'll help you through the process. Good luck!

Re: Surgical Report 8 weeks post-op?

I asked for extra pictures and my Gyn gave me the rundown on my pathology report. Kinda scary they forgot to load film in the camera, I wonder if there is still a digital copy? Hmmmm?

When you find great Drs hold on tight because they seem to be few and far between. My gyn has been taking care of me for almost 16 years now, which is probably why she didn't give me a copy. We have a very open relationship.

Thanks for responding...how are you healing ???

Re: Surgical Report 8 weeks post-op?

No digital pics - I suppose she needed to put in something like an SD card? She apologized for not remembering. She had even written down on my chart that I wanted pictures/video. My dd is in a health careers class in school and they were going to watch some of the surgery

I'm feeling better - aches are not at bad. Saw gyn/surgeon for the last time today. Everything is healing normally. No granulation, which I was afraid might be causing the aches and pains. I'm release for everything on Thursday (though not sure I'll wait the last couple of days for hubby time!)
