More Questions

hey ladies,
sorry for all the questions but i have another.....i am sure i will have a million...LOL. here goes....how long should i be in the hospital for a lah/bso? i believe that is what i am having...lol can't read the dr. srcibble. and i don't remember what all he said as i was in shell shock. i do remember he said that i would be in there i think 3 days does that sound right? Oh and something else, my DH ( who has always been supportive) doesn't even want to talk about the upcoming surgery (3/19). I know that he is scared but every time i mention the surgery...he says that he doesn't want to talk about it. Is there something i can tell him that will keep his mind at ease. He has told me that he is afraid that i am going to be a different person and that he heard that i will have no sex drive because of the hormones. But everybody i have talked to says that they didn't have any trouble...but he want listen to me!!! Thanks in advace for the info...and thanks for listening.

Thanks,

Lee

It's GOOD that you continue to ask questions, hon! Keep them coming!

The average time in the Castle for this surgery is 2 nights / 3 days. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Everyone is different.

As for your DH, it's understandable that he doesn't want to talk about it. Men feel very helpless when something like this comes up because there's NOTHING they can do to help or make it all better. My DH has told me that. As for his concerns, did you know that there is an FAQ for DH's and Family here at the site? You can find it here:

Hysterectomy FAQ for Family and Friends

Give this a look and see if it applies to your situation. You might want to print that out and give it to him.

As for sex life afterwards, I personally have found it to be BETTER because there is no more pain, no more worries. Women who do have problems with sex afterwards are very few.

Hope this helps!

CHIN UP!

time in hospital?

I had an LAVH (but kept my ovaries) on 2/3 in the morning and was discharged before 10 the next morning.

As long as I was able to pee on my own (which I did 4 times in the hour after they took out the catheter!) and I was able to walk around easily, they let me go!

Good luck! I have heard of others needing to stay longer, but for me 1 night and a little over 27 hours and I was home!

MORE QUESTIONS...

Someone once said "no question is a stupid question". Thank goodness for that person, because I also ask LOTS of questions. I've found that this website it the BEST place to get answers and I always feel so much better. So don't worry - ask away - we all need to stick together! As far as the DH goes. I too have had the same problem. But it's because he sees me in so much pain and feels so helpless. I've found if I let him do simple things for me, like get my pills and a glass of water. He feels better. Like he's done "something".
