Pain in the vein

I had TLH on 12/18. All went well. I am recovering fairly well and pain is managed pretty well by staying on schedule with meds (mostly Tylenol with Codeine or 1/2 Vicodin) every 4-5 hours and naproxen twice a day. I am being a good princess and laying very low. My family is being fantastic to me. I feel very blessed.

I am experiencing a burning pain in the vein on the arm my IV was on. It is not terrible, just noticeable and seems weird. Has anyone experienced this? I am assuming its from the IV and possibly the vein is bruised or something.

The pain in my stomach, near the belly button incision is also a burning type pain. If I stay on schedule with meds and be still its not too bad. Is this how others have experienced pain post TLH?

Hugs to all of you on this Christmas Eve!
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
Colleen

Re: Pain in the vein

Colleen be careful and watch the pain in your arm. It may be nothing but watch it and if the pain starts to move up your arm or you get a red line that moves at all call your dr right away. It wouldn't hurt to call him/her anyway just to ask. I hope you heal quickly.

Re: Pain in the vein

IV sites can be very painful for many days after they are put in. You can talk to your doc. if it gets worse. Your pain sounds pretty normal for what I've seen here. Again, if it gets worse or there is a new pain, give your doc. a call.

Hang in there,
