dVH/RALH: fear of sex life changing

I have my robotic guided laparoscopic hysterectomy scheduled for tomorrow. I have several friends who say their sex lives haven't changer for the worse, but I have one friend who had totally hyst & they took her ovaries too. She said sex is too painful now & she doesn't have any desire anymore. My doctor is convinced we should be able to keep my ovaries but I'm still scared that my libido or feeling will drastically change.

I would love to hear what you Princess's have to say.

To me there are a couple of factors -----

1 - If you get to keep your ovaries that is a big benefit. They may still fail or fail sooner but until that point you still have the benefit of your hormones.

2 - If you have pain during intercourse now and the hysterectomy alleviates that pain the odds are that you intercourse will be better.

3 - There is a mental component to intercourse for women. So if you can keep your mind in the right place that you still view yourself as a sexual being that will also trend you in the right direction.

I was not able to keep my ovaries due to a cancer diagnosis, I had no pain prior to my hysterectomy and had pain afterwards due to some muscle issues and lastly the loss of my ovaries and the surgical menopause along with the pain threw me into clinical depression. So needless to say I have struggled.
