ovaries in shock?

I am 2 weeks post TAH and was aware the ovaries may go into shock after the procedure... they have. Any one have an idea on how long this shock lasts until the ovaries start functioning properly again? My only noticable symptoms are night sweats and hot flashes. The worst for me is the night sweats because I wake up with damp clothes and kick the covers off and next thing I know I am freezing. Oh not to mention lots of broken sleep and insomnia. What are some of you doing to combat this. I would rather do something natural than take some of these synthetic HRT's and all their side effects. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. All in all I can't complain about my recovery period...my husband is taking tremendous loving care of me...makes me love my man even more.

ovaries in shock?

Hi

Two weeks is early days ... I think mine took about 2 months to 'wake up', but everyone is different. If you do a forum search on sleeping ovaries you'll find loads of posts.

So hang in there and keep up the pampering!

BTW, love Pisces1964 ... that's me, too!

It took mine about 2 months to fully wake up, as well. I lived on Breyers Frozen Juice Bars until then...lime was my favorite...like eating a margarita - Yum!
While I'm usually an advocate for herbal remedies, in this case I would discourage it. Your body needs to be given the time to regain it's natural balance.
Have patience and if things are not improving let your doc know. They can check your hormone levels with a blood test.
Honestly, it was around the time that I thought they would never wake up that my symptoms started clearing up. Isn't that always the way it works. LOL

I will certainly try to hang in there and see what my body does. One nice things is the nurse practioner of my PC doc deals with natural hormone replacement via salivary testing/creams and I may have to give her a call in the future. Thanks for the feedback any is welcomed!!
