Fibroid Question
Is it possible for fibroids to cause weight gain. I look like I am 6 months preggo and cant lose weight no matter how I try. I was just told Friday that the ultrasound they did last tuesday showed a fibroid in my uterus. I am wondering if thats why i havent been able to lose weight. The doc showed me the pic and it looked pretty big. Anyone know if thats a possibility. Its all coming out Wednesday but I am just curious. Thank you!

Fibroid Question
I'm not sure, but I'm hoping so! The doc said I have quite a few fibroids and some of them are quite big (not sure how big that is). I've gained some weight in the past year due to not eating right and little exercise, but seemed to have had a jump in the last couple of months. I've even gone up a size in my uniform pants because they just got so uncomfortable.
We'll see how it goes afterward...

Fibroid Question
Not sure about whether fibroids cause weight gain. I know that I had a huge uterine mass and my uterus was the size of a soccer ball. The gyne told me I was the size of a 6-month pregnant woman. Even though I lost only 4 pounds after it was taken out, my pants fit much better now.

fibroid question
I know that my uterus was said to be about a 4-month pregnant size. I also know that my pants were so tight and I got to the point where I wasn't even able to zip some pants that I had worn just the month before! My eating habits never changed, my exercise pattern was the same, and I was feeling frustrated. My lower abdomen was as hard as a rock, but I couldn't even suck it in!
The pictures of the surgery showed a uterus that appeared to have a fist poking through it. It was amazing that after those nasty fibroids were gone, even with swelly belly, the pressure was gone and so was the pregnant look.
So far only about 7-8 pounds are gone after 6 weeks, but I'll take the relief any day....even without a tremendous weight loss.
Best wishes....

Fibroid Question
Hi AngelzDreamz
I'll share my experience as well - about 1 year ago I finally came out and asked my Dr. - "Am I fat or is this a fibroid?" Turns out it was a fibroid (one of "numerous" but the biggest - about the size of a 5 month pregnancy). Too big for arterial embolization so a hysterectomy is in my near future - Nov. 19 - nervous, but looking forward to the relief (and perhaps a little loss of weight!!)
Good luck Wednesday.

Fibroid Question
Fibroids can vary in size and weight.
Mine was 10cm and weighed in at 2/3 of a pound. So although somewhat large, it was NOT responsible for my weight gain.
One needs to move more than than consume.

Fibroid Question
I am hoping for the sme thing, some weight loss. I have multiple large fibroids and a 4 month size uterus and I have that full feeling in my stomach. I don't fit my clothes the same way and have that preggie look. Even if we don't lose a bunch of weight. I bet our clothes will fit better and maybe we will not look so swollen. One can hope, right??

Fibroid Question
Mine is the size of a 22 week pregnancy. It really hasn't caused any weight gain but my clothes no longer fit. That was frustrating because I knew I was successfully controlling my weight but not my size. So, I am hopeful and have been lead to believe my size will go down.
The other thing is I have always walked a lot. I was trying to train to do a marathon this fall and finally gave up in early summer because I couldn't make it thru the workouts due to the need for a bathroom. I was doing Kegal exercises constantly. Turns out it was the fibroid pressing the uterus.
It seem to me that having the hysterectomy may not cause weight loss but will enable us to get control of our bodies again.
Best wishes

Fibroid Question
Whatever works. Eve if the swelling goes down it will be helpful. Yesterday I was at the bingo hall with my mom and one of the callers came up to me and rubbed my belly and sai" so the lil one is coming soon" I turned red and looked at him and said "I am not pregnant just fat thank you very much!!!"
